Sydney Cantata Project is a collective of musicians with a vision to perform the cantatas of J. S. Bach on period instruments around the greater Sydney region.

Just under two weeks until the Sydney Cantata Project performs Bach's St John Passion — reconstructed as it would have been heard at the 1724 Leipzig Good Friday Vespers, with organ chorales, congregational hymns, and the Passion story unfolding between them.

Thank you to the over 300 people who joined us for last Saturday's concert! It was a joy to perform these two glorious cantatas.

Our next concert is Saturday 29 August, when we perform Bach's St John Passion at the Shore School Chapel. We expect this one to sell out, so get your tickets early.

Two stunningly joyful cantatas—Meine Seel erhebt den Herren, BWV 10 (The German Magnificat), and Erwünschtes Freudenlicht, BWV 184 (Desired Light of Joy)—performed with choir and orchestra by some of Australia’s top historical music specialists. This is a concert not to be missed!
