If you remember, 2 years ago I was filming my Tile painting workshop 🎨

It was my very first attempt to do a pre-recorded masterclass.

It was very exciting!  But...I didn't like the result...The technical part was done perfectly, but I didn't like "my part" in this process - from my hair and make up to the informational content of the masterclass.
No wonder! I wasn't even preparing for that shooting! I knew that I know everything and all I have to do is just to say that infront of the camera 😬
So... I missed a lot of information.

Now I know how much effort it takes to film a good masterclass!

● To put all your knowledge together
● To structure it so students can actually learn something from you
● To say it all infront of the camera
● To film it
● To edit it
● To maintain the educational process
● Etc

But it was an amazing experience!

For my next masterclasses preparation always takes longer than the filming itself and post-production process.

Anyway, 2 years later I looked at my first masterclass again and thought that I should give this video a chance! Students can learn the main things from it- outlining and using paints.
Yes, without all details and tricks though.
Plus I don't care anymore the way I look in it 😅 just beautiful 🥰

I prepared Craft Boxes with materials for Tile painting which come with excess to the video masterclass. It will be available untill I finish shooting my proper Tile painting course.

About these boxes I will write in the next post 🤗

How I started and what obstacles I faced.

When I started my creative journey, I tried different decorating techniques. And I wanted to try everything! A lot of things fell away after I tried it. But a lot remained and I applied them in my works.

I didn't get to know the glass painting right away.

And what was the most difficult thing on my way?

For now, I will skip all the moments with quitting my job, interaction with family, and so on.
Right now I will tell you more about the technical aspects.

🔻The most difficult thing, probably, was a very wide variety of materials in which you could drown. And if I attended some classes and they told us what to buy and what not to buy, then this greatly facilitated the task. But if I tried to do something myself, then the trial and error method was used here.

As a result, there are mountains of unnecessary materials and wasted money. Was that the case with you?

🔻In terms of the work space, I was more or less lucky, since I lived alone and could create anywhere, even on the ceiling. As a result, as you understand, I didn't have a dining table in the kitchen, and in the living room sometimes I had to sneak through cans, boxes, frames and other things laid out on the floor. When I had to sand, drill or paint something, it was certainly more difficult to do it in the apartment, but somehow I did it.

🔻Well, then I needed to sell all this goodness. And this meant that first of all, even before selling, it was necessary to declare myself out there and say that this is what I do, this is my creativity. And this was the most difficult part of it… What will they think of me?

🔻Then I had to photograph it all and put it out online somewhere… You should have seen those photos, my first photos.. I'll definitely show you sometime.

And so on.

Tell me, do you know any of this? Or did you have your own difficulties? And if you don't create, but would like to, what stops you from doing it?

Oh yes!And that’s what Im learning to do. To find the way to share my creativity with you. Sometimes I feel like I'm...

Oh yes!

And that’s what Im learning to do.

To find the way to share my creativity with you. Sometimes I feel like I'm about to explode from what's inside of me. I feel the need to share, but sometimes it doesn't really work out because I just don't know how to do it.

But I'll learn.

And I will be grateful if you help me 🙏
Because I do have something to share ❤️

My attitude to sales 💰

Hmm, what to say. I am not that person who loves to sell. But sales are an essential part of what I do. And it can even be called a business, that's what it is in fact. Because your creativity alone won't put any food on your table…And since I made the decision at one time to quit my office job, where I was paid a salary, and to make creativity my profession, then.. I need to spin around somehow so that this profession of mine can pay for a roof over my head, dinner on the table and.. tickets to Russia ✈️ every now and then at least, since they don't put me on a plane for free and they don't give out groceries in the store. Shame ... then you could just create 😄

In this regard, fortunately or unfortunately, I have to do all these marketing things and ... OMG - sell 😱

Fortunately - because people are really happy when they receive their orders from me, do my workshop and I feel their gratitude… 😍

BUT in order for these people to find me and see what I am offering, a lot of actions have to be done. Just to paint something or film a master class is usually not enough 😭

Unfortunately - because it takes an incredible amount of time and energy. Which could be directed directly into creativity.

I don't like selling, but I love money and I love getting rewarded for what I do. After all, money is also energy 💫 And money gives me the opportunity to create, develop, buy new materials, study, and so on.

Usually the process of doing business is more difficult for creative people. Although, of course, there are exceptions.

I admire those people who are able to effectively and successfully combine creativity and marketing in their business ⚖️ At the same time, they can still have three children! 🤯

Can you tell me how you are going with sales? Which type do you belong to - the creator or the seller? Or maybe both? What do you enjoy more?

If you are interested, write in the comments, and I will tell you little by little what I do for my "business" 😊

I know that I have a lot of creative people among my followers.
And doesnt matter whether you are creative or not - you give me your priceless attention. 🙏

For me, this is very important, as I am a creative person. Yes, I do not create for the sake of Likes, but because I can't not to create. And it would seem then why post it on social media? After all, you can sell it all simply through an online store or on a website?
And social media take a lot of time!, so why?

But because communication and interraction are very important. For me it is, at least. I can't paint, put it on the shelf and that's it... it is important for me to share and feel this connection. And when others respond to it, it is so nice and I want to share more!

So lets get back to where I started it all.

I would like to apologize to all of you, and especially to those creative ones of you, that I dont follow each of you and that I do not ❤️ your photos, do not leave comments..

I see your creativity and it's beautiful!

But I can't physically give attention to each of you.
As soon as I go to Instagram, I fly away immediately and forget why I came there 🙈

So I just wanted to thank you! And tell you that you are the BEST! 😍

❓The most popular question I hear from followers is "what paints do you use?"

I will say that for a very long time I used glass paints from the French manufacturer &Bourgeois.

But, unfortunately, they were discontinued... and over time, it became harder and harder to get them.

I held on for a long time, bought leftovers in stores, tried to stock up for years to come. But then I realized that it was a failed plan and that sooner or later I would have to find a replacement for them.

A replacement was found, I was not even looking for it, because I knew about these paints for a long time. This is , also a French brand.

I slowly begun to use them in my works and now I work almost always with them 🎨 If there is a difference compared to Lefranc&Bourgeois , it is hardly noticeable. Although I still have a lot of Lefranc paints left.

There are also paints from Marabu, I used them at the beginning of my "career". Also great paints.

There are many other manufacturers, such as Italian brands Ferrario, Maimeri and others, but they are also difficult to find in retail stores now. I did not use their glass paints, but I used other materials of these brands and there is no doubt about their quality.

What brands do you use?
Im sure that on this side of the Globe a lot of other manufacturers, maybe Asian ones? Have you tried any of them? What can you say?

I managed to finish toucans the day before I left! Hooray…

In fact, there is nothing good here and I have nothing to be proud of.

I have a weak spot - to leave things for later. And then rushing to finish them.

Because as one person says, nothing motivates me like deadlines!

So it turned out with toucans. I had plenty of time to paint them. I wanted it myself, I offered it myself and... forgot about it.

And the stress that I got in the end was completely unnecessary for me. I knew perfectly well that for such work it takes weeks to do everything peacefully and enjoy the process.

In the end, I didn't complete my initial idea. Yes, they are suitable for hanging on the wall, but in my head they remained unfinished.

I was afraid that it would be worse: that I would simply not have time and leave them unfinished; that I would spill paint all over them or somehow spoil them, and there was simply no time to fix them; that I would not like the result at all or that I would just break the glass. This happens when you're in a hurry.

The fact is that when you start working at speed, it's not an art anymore. Yes, experience allows you to do it technically. But the spirit of creativity is already disappearing. Unfortunately. I knew it, I realized that it was wrong, but I couldn't help myself. I couldn't not to paint them. And it was wrong not to paint them at all, but that I hadn't painted them before.

I learn from such moments and with each of them I see more clearly the mechanism of how this happens. And someday, I hope that I will learn to do everything on time.

Actually Im very good! I still finished them and didnt spoil. And the result is not that bad😁

What do you think? Should you rush such things like art?

Our story

Ceramic and glass artist Natalia originally hails from Russia but is based in Sydney, Australia, a thriving art city where she has developed her style and philosophy. She graduated from art school in her youth, but applied herself to the field of economics before returning to her roots with a course in Interior Decoration in the International Design School in Moscow in 2014 after 10 years of auditing.

Constantly developing her work, Natalia is currently in a period of transition and evolving from her previous style. She specialises in glass and ceramic painting, having started the former in 2013. The translucency of the floral motifs in her work come through in this specific medium, with light and liquid marrying each other in perfect harmony. Murals, framed paintings, mirrors, glassware, ceramics, and even clocks are all part of what you’ll see here. No surface is safe from her creative and wandering eye.

Each gossamer petal and leaf encapsulates the fragility of nature’s best work. Natalia’s penchant for rich colours are highlighted even more so by her techniques of gradient painting and selection of placement to not only decorate, but enhance the form of the item that she is using. Absolutely water resistant as well, these pieces will withstand the test of time and wear.
