Tweed Scene

Tweed Scene The insider's guide to what to see, do, taste and enjoy in the Tweed Shire.

The Tweed, the lesser-known coastal and rainforest shire discretely nestled between the glitzy Gold Coast to the north and world-famous Byron Shire to the south, is often overlooked as a holiday destination. But we lucky locals know just how many wonderful things there are here to explore and enjoy. Our website, www.tweedscene.com, provides an insider’s guide to what you can see, do, eat, drink, h

ear and indulge in the Tweed Shire — whether you’re a local yourself or like to visit this magnificent part of the world. For a guide to the weekend's entertainment in the Tweed, check the site's home page each Thursday or subscribe to get the free weekly Tweed entertainment guide emailed straight to your inbox. If you’re a local, you probably have some of your own ‘insider info’ on great things to see, do, taste and experience in the Tweed. So feel free to share your knowledge by leaving a comment at www.tweedscene.com.au or post something interesting on our Facebook newsfeed.

Library update:

Tweed Heads Library is undergoing a major upgrade over the next 8-9 months. This much needed renovation will provide the community with a 40 per cent larger library space, allowing for the collection to increase and for more individual and collaborative seating arrangements.

Features of the new library will include borrower loan stations, more computers for public use, two multipurpose spaces, numerous lounge and table space options, lower shelving, a court yard, increased wi-fi access, an enhanced children’s area and improved accessibility.

From January 16 and continuing throughout the renovation period, the Library will be offering a limited range of resources and services from the Council rooms adjacent to the Tweed Heads Library. On offer will be four bookable PCs, one photocopier/printer, CD audiobooks, large print fiction, adult fiction, DVDs, newspapers, a selection of nonfiction and reservation collection.

The library carpark will still be operational with directional signage erected to help with navigating to the temporary library location.

Tweed Heads Library opening hours during the library renovation period will be:
Monday to Friday 9.30am–5pm
Saturday 9am–12noon

Other Tweed Area libraries at Kingscliff and Murwillumbah will be open as usual, please feel free to call in and see what resources and services are on offer.

Bookings essential on 02 6674 1607
Australia Dawn till Dusk portrays the magnificent country of Australia - its natural landscapes, history, wildlife and many wonders. It also tells the story of a personal odyssey around this great land by photographer Rob Olver, who learnt much about himself and the country during his travels. Starting in Perth, he headed north through the Pilbara and Kimberley to the Northern Territory and Queensland. He visited the Great Barrier Reef and the cities of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne before arriving back in Perth after a five month journey. Rob has also visited Uluru, Cradle Mountain and other iconic places in Australia to complete the book. His evocative images and informative text encourage us to experience for ourselves one of the most unique countries on Earth ... Australia.
