Ubuntu tour

Ubuntu tour UBUNTU Africa brings the spirit of East Africa to Australia through powerful music, dance, and drumming.

These young performers continue to grow and inspire long after the tour. Follow us for stories, updates, and future tour news. ❤️ Kwaya Australia (www.kwaya.org) is excited to present UBUNTU, a gifted group of singers, musicians and dancers who were former members of the world-renowned African Children’s Choir (www.africanchildrenschoir.com). Having just graduated from high school through African

Children's Choir sponsorship, these talented 18-20 year olds are poised to fulfill their promise of making a difference in their own villages. Before they prepare for university on their journey to become Uganda’s future leaders they are thrilled to share with Australia how their African dreams are becoming a reality through this inspirational tour which travels from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast from April to June 2016. The African Children's Choir helps vulnerable children in Africa to gain a quality education to become the future leaders of their own countries.

UBUNTU Africa Australia Tour 2027: Behind the scenes has officially begun…** https://www.kwaya.org/ubuntuafricatour2027

It's a mammoth job.
9 weeks - 25 April - June 28 2027
35 locations visited.
Mornington VIC to Sunshine Coast and back again.
Over 500 volunteers

Meet a couple behind the scenes who are on the job a year out from the arrival date.

Fiona Aitken – is trying to work out how we can hire a 30 - 33 seater bus. Apparently, that size is a little hard to find. The last tour was only a 25-seater, and with 22 passengers plus "stuff" let's say things were a little bit "up close and personal".

Suzie White coordinates many of our NSW stops. She's on the hunt for Area Hosts in new areas, Armidale, Kempsey, Newcastle and Tamworth. If you are interested in being an Area Host or know someone who may be (usually a school or community choir or group). Check out this link. https://www.kwaya.org/hostanarea

And then there’s me… pulling faces, juggling things not very well, and occasionally being a *little* dramatic.

It’s a long road to UBUNTU 2027, but we’re off and running, hosts are coming on board, plans are forming, and it’s already feeling exciting.

More to come soon… 👀

This smile says everything.
He is old, lives alone, is unwell, and unable to work. With no family or government support, this food hamper will feed him for almost a month.
100% of every dollar goes directly to the hampers, and the photos show exactly where your support ends up.
Thank you to everyone who’s already given.

I wanted to share a small but powerful story from Uganda.
Two of the families who recently received Christmas food hampers looked “ok” from the outside, but when our volunteers stepped into their homes, there was no food at all. Empty cupboards. Empty pots. This grandma and mum were quietly doing it tough.
Because of two generous Aussies, that changed. Food in the kitchen. Enough to feed their families for the next couple of weeks. And such deep gratitude.
This is why we do the Humble Hampers each Christmas, simple, practical, and genuinely life-giving.
If you’ve been thinking about giving a hamper, this is your little nudge 💛
An opportunity to bless a family in Uganda this Christmas 🙏🏼
*Hampers are $50 and feed a family for around two weeks
*Your name (or someone you nominate) is added so the family knows who thought of them
* Delivered by KwaYa volunteers
* Photos sent before Christmas
Donate here 👉 https://www.kwaya.org/humble-hampers
Thank you!
P.S. My international friends can give too if they want, the opportunity for kindness is not restricted to Aussies. 😊
P.P.S For those who have already given, your photos are on the way.

Hello Francis 🇰🇪 👋🏼😊

Hello Francis 🇰🇪 👋🏼😊

Spotlight: Meet Francis 🇰🇪

Born in the breathtaking Escarpment of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, Francis spent his childhood climbing mountains and dreaming big. His mother’s strength held their family of six together, while his late father — a church leader and local milk distributor — modeled a life of service.

"My ambition is to carry on his legacy by living with the same purpose and charity that he embodied."

Though he never toured as a child, Francis received a Music for Life sponsorship that opened doors to a brighter future. He recently became the first in his family to earn a university degree — in journalism — and he’s determined to use his voice to uplift others and share untold stories.

This year, Francis joined the Ubuntu Choir on tour in Australia — a journey of many firsts, and a powerful reminder of what’s possible through opportunity, faith and determination.

It sure is! 🙌🏻

🎶 **RIDING THE BUS WITH GIBSON** 🎶

On our UBUNTU Africa tour, somewhere between towns, I captured this little video of an impromptu performance by Gibson. No mic. No studio. Just raw talent, a moving bus, and a whole lot of soul.

He wrote this song himself and dreams of being a Gospel Reggae singer-songwriter. And honestly? He blew me away.

But like so many young artists in Uganda, Gibson’s got the voice and the message—but no place to record.

That’s why this September, when KwaYa hits the slums of Kampala, we’re building a recording studio. A space where kids like Gibson—disadvantaged but bursting with talent—can lay down the songs that might just become hits.

Let’s turn dreams into demos. And demos into albums.
One day, you’ll see Gibson’s name on a streaming platform and be able to say, *“I helped put that young man on the map.”*

Let’s do this. For Gibson. For all of them still waiting their turn.

Peninah’s smile lights up the room. 🤩

Peninah is a natural encourager whose journey from hardship to hope continues to inspire.

Raised in a vulnerable community in Uganda, Peninah faced many challenges early on — including the inability to attend school. But thanks to the love of her aunt and a bit of hope, she was able to join a local school and eventually found her path through the African Children’s Choir.

As a member of Choir 39, Peninah received not just an education, but love, purpose and the belief that God has a plan for every life.

She recently toured Australia with Ubuntu, calling it “a blessing, an opportunity and a way to give back.”

Her dream? To inspire others to uplift disadvantaged children and transform communities — just as hers was.
