Latrobe Orchestra’s Lyrebirds and Pardalotes played for Traralgon Aged Care residents.

The Lyrebirds played beautifully, and performed ten pieces from their Vamoosh repertoire.

This was followed by the Pardalotes who presented a range of delightful short chamber pieces.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and it was our privilege and pleasure to share our music with them.

Many thanks to Colin Iversen, the Musical Director of both groups, for his dedication and leadership.

Looking for something to do this Sunday, 11 October?

🎶 FREE Music Making Workshop happening at the West Gippsland Arts Centre this Sunday.🎶

Have fun jamming out and making music with local musician Steve Shulz. Discover new ways to create music and collaborate with others. Create immersive sound sculptures while learning new rhythmic techniques on a variety of percussion instruments. No instruments or experience needed, just a willingness to have fun! By the end of this workshop, you will create a group performance that will be shared at the Expressions Festival later in October!

This will be a great opportunity for young people to come along, try something new and have some fun in a relaxed and creative environment.

WHAT: Music Making Workshop for 12 - 25 year olds.

Get ready for the 2026 Day of Brass – a FREE immersive day of music-making you won't want to miss on Sunday, 20 September from 10am-3.45pm.

A BIG SHOUT OUT to the Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod and all their truly amazing volunteers - last night ran smoothly and was such an enjoyable evening. Great people. Great music. AWESOME community.

Well done to all the playing members of the Labrobe Orchestra who placed FIRST in the Open Instrumental Ensemble Group section. CONGRATULATIONS also to West Gippsland Concert Band (2nd), Morwell Citizens Band (3rd), and Latrobe Orchestra's Pardalotes (Highly Commended).

Well done to Latrobe Orchestra's Lyrebirds (beginner strings group) members who placed THIRD in the 18 years and under Instrumental Group section. Congratulations to all other entrants too.

As our friend Niels Bijl from the West Gippsland Concert Band said: "Community music is alive and well in Gippsland!!!"

Backing live music in our Inner West!

Live music is a huge part of what makes our community so vibrant and we’re backing the venues and artists who make it happen.

The 10,000 Gigs: Victorian Gig Fund is now open, giving eligible live music venues the chance to receive up to $11,000 to stage up to 20 paid gigs featuring Victorian artists.

That means more opportunities for local musicians, more live music for our community, and more support for the venues that bring our music scene to life.

Since the Fund launched in 2024, more than 7,600 gigs by Victorian artists have already been supported.

Applications are open until 2 September 2026, with gigs to take place between December 2026 and June 2027.
