Kinusaiga birds- Japanese no-sew textile art with Jan Walker.
Saturday 4th July 10am

Only a few spots left for this Kinusaiga Worksop- a fascinating Japanese textile art form where you create stunning fabric collage designs without sewing a stitch or using a drop of glue.

In this workshop you will create a beautiful fabric picture of a bird (choice of 2). Perfect for beginners, overthinkers, and anyone who says ... “I’m not creative/can’t sew”. This is a relaxed chance to unwind, connect, and create.

Everything supplied, incl tools & frame to finish your project

Our new exhibition ‘Earth’s Poetry’ by a group of talented artists and potters from the Burdekin has some real treasures in it.

This piece is one of Jessica Johnson’s ‘Birds gathering’ range, and is being gasped at by our visitors. Finely crafted in stoneware, the wheel thrown vessels each have hand-sculpted birds perched over them.
Finished in a rich fluid glaze in green, beige and grey tones - they are easy on the eye, and engaging. $275 ea.

The d Hinton is open 7 days a week (except Show Holiday) - come and check it out. Free entry

Learn the basics of wire weaving different thicknesses of copper before creating your own stylish wrist cuff by weaving your own pattern.
Learn basic shaping and bending of wire, to make the perfect fit, before applying a patina to give an antiqued look.
This is a skill that you can take away and apply to other metals, including silver and gold.
All materials and tools are provided for the duration of the workshop. Small class size means you get individual attention, so book early.

We've had such great feedback from Heather's six week courses that we've just released more!

🎨 ‘Art4Beginners - painting in watercolour' which starts on Thursday 2nd July. 6pm

🎨 🆕’Mastering Watercolour' intermediate class on Tuesday 30th June 6pm

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kylie, Townsville -
"Heather is the most wonderful teacher I've ever had. Whilst every single other class and teacher have been fantastic, Heather is next level. The classes are so hands on and interesting and I'd like to continue learning from Heather for the rest of the year. Heather was mentioning a follow up water colour class which l'd love to do, as well as a pastels class and I'd really love to learn Heathers specialty.... painting realistic birds.
The time slot and day is perfect for me so I'd love to continue for as long as possible."

Handcrafted using the traditional lampwork technique, these exquisite glass feather earrings capture the beauty of some of Australia’s most iconic birds. Inspired by the striking plumage of the sulphur-crested cockatoo and the majestic sea eagle, each feather is individually formed in glass and finished with sterling silver hooks.

Alison Velvin’s wearable artworks are available for $70 per pair.

We’re delighted to welcome these beautiful apprentice chests by local maker Eddie Symonds. Originally inspired by the miniature chests traditionally created by apprentice carpenters and joiners to demonstrate their skills, each piece showcases meticulous craftsmanship, including hand-crafted dovetail drawers and an exceptional attention to detail.

Eddie, a retired school principal, brings the same patience, precision and care to his woodworking. His commitment to quality is evident in every drawer, joint and polished surface.

Crafted from Red Cedar and Silky Oak, these charming chests are perfect for storing jewellery, treasured keepsakes or special collectables.

Available now in the gallery $375 each.
