Perhaps the most mystical part of the mother's blessing is in the goodbye.

Mothers, sisters and dear friends giving the mother one last hug and wish before parting ways,
Knowing that she is the portal.

That soon she will open,
And she will bring life into our world.

That the next time we may lay eyes on her
She will be before us, born anew.

And then, releasing the red thread.
Remembering that when we tied it,
We didn't yet know her, not like this.

These archetypes are a part of an ancient way of understanding a woman's life and her rites of passages.

🌱The Maiden: birth to childbirth - spring.
She is becoming, understanding, discovering.

🌹The Mother: childbirth to menopause - summer.
She nurtures, creates, she fiercely protects.

🥀The Maga: menopause to retirement - autum.
She reflects and harvests the wisdom gathered in her life and confidently shares her wisdom.

🍂The Crone: retirement to death - winter.
the wise woman. She has loved, lost and learnt, deeply guided by inner wisdom.

This is not only your baby's birth, this is your birth.
Your transition.
Your rite of passage.
Your invitation to transform.

🩸Amniotic Sac Drum 🩸

This drum was grown for 9 months within a mothers womb. It once held a precious baby safely within its waters. And now, it is playing a gentle, rhythmic, yet familiar sound to baby and mum.

Made with both the amnion and the chorion (the two layers of the amniotic sac) just a few hours after birth.

The frame is made of Acacia wood.
