Nathan Roche is back in town bringing along his unique blend of outsider, sunburnt, avant-rock to the Jungle Club, Magnetic Island on the 16th of January and to Herbert Hotel on the 17th of January.

Supported by Steve Towson and DJ Scotchtape on the 17th. Come along to our original stomping ground out the back and catch a very special evening of live music and vinyl selections.

Big news yesterday from the official JCU hospital fundraiser body BRIGHTER LIVES. Below is a Thankyou from Executive Chair Tanya Busoli and details of the equipment that is now in the process bought according to need. BRIGHTER 2022 reached our 17,000 goal (and more) which enabled the hospital to buy much needed equipment outright to help fight Breast Cancer with 1,000 extra to support another BRIGHTER LIVES goal. Thanks to everyone who donated art works and $ to the BRIGHTER fundraiser for BRIGHTER LIVES . "SOMEDAY WE WILL MISS TODAY>Acrylic on Vinyl record, 2022. below is a message about the equipment purchased from Tanya Busoli the outgoing Executive Chair of Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital https://www.brighterlives.org.au/ Equipment to be purchased is finalised. It’s called a SOZO bioimpedemce machine https://lymphaticsolutions.com.au/services/sozo-lymphoedema-monitoring/ and is being purchased for the lymphoedema clinic in the cancer centre at the Townsville University Hospital l.

Here’s some information about benefits of the machine:
Early detection - Effective Treatment Monitoring - patient education: The SOZO provides patient with immediate assessment / feedback on their condition and can assist with motivating patients to comply with therapist recommended treatment. It provides immediate visual feedback to patients regarding their condition and progress.

How many people will benefit? The SOZO is used on every breast cancer patient (new and review patients) who attends the physiotherapy or occupational therapy lymphoedema clinic unless contraindicated (e.g if they have a pacemaker) as part of the clinical assessment process. On average 6-10 new breast cancer patients receive pre operative SOZO measures per week. Approximately 15-20 review patients per day utilise the SOZO to monitor their condition and self management regime. All patients are followed up for at least 2 years or life long if lymphoedema develops.
Lymphoedema is a common complication of breast cancer treatment.

The SOZO machine is covered entirely by our fundraising efforts.
