✨ Gallery Shop Featured Artist of the Week ✨

We’re excited to continue our Featured Artist of the Week series, celebrating the talented creatives whose work is available in our Gallery Shop and helping support our local arts community.

This week we’re proud to introduce Tammie Rogers.

Based in Torquay and working from The Light Box Creative Studios, Tammie creates beautiful hand-built ceramic vessels and bowls that sit somewhere between functional object and sculpture. Her work embraces a “perfectly imperfect” philosophy, allowing the marks of the maker and the creative process to remain visible in every piece.

Drawing on her background in architecture and photography, Tammie’s ceramics reflect a thoughtful balance of form, texture and composition. Inspired by more than 30 years living on the Surf Coast, her earth-toned palette and fluid forms evoke a quiet coastal sensibility, bringing warmth, depth and a sense of place to contemporary interiors.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - James Irwin

We are delighted to feature Surf Coast artist James Irwin in our current exhibition, Finding Form.

With over two decades of experience as a landscape designer and builder, James brings a unique perspective to his sculptural practice. Working primarily with mild steel and natural stone, his work explores the relationship between constructed form and the natural environment, drawing on ideas of balance, rhythm, and spatial harmony.

In Finding Form, James presents a series of seven vibrant sculptures constructed from triangular forms. Through bold colour and carefully considered geometry, the works explore the tension between solidity and movement. While each sculpture remains still, their angular compositions create a sense of momentum—as though they might tip, pivot, or unfold at any moment.

“The works do not move, yet they hold the suggestion that they might. The viewer completes the motion in their own mind, animating the forms through perception, where stillness becomes a kind of suspended action.”

James’ sculptures are designed to inhabit both interior and exterior spaces, responding to architecture, light, landscape, and planting. In each setting, the surrounding environment becomes an essential part of the work.

What a night! Congratulations to our four artists for a very successful launch. A great start to our Finding Form exhibition.
James is in the gallery today so make sure to pop in and say hello. Thank you to everyone that came last night and those that purchased artwork. Here’s to a month of sculpture in the gallery. Not forgetting a huge thank you to for the amazing music he played throughout.

We’re excited to announce the launch of Finding Form — our first all-sculpture exhibition, opening Thursday 28 May and running until Sunday 21 June.

Bringing together the work of four artists, Finding Form explores the relationship between material, structure, and expression through sculpture, jewellery, and wall-based works. Working across metal, wood, and cloth, each artist transforms raw materials into tactile, evocative forms that balance industrial processes with organic movement and texture.

From suspended works that shift gently through space to grounded sculptural pieces and intricately crafted objects, the exhibition invites audiences to consider how form is discovered, constructed, and felt.

Finding Form celebrates experimentation, transformation, and the dialogue between the natural and the made — offering a rich exploration of balance, texture, strength, and subtlety.

Join us for the opening celebration on Friday 29 May, 6–8pm, as we celebrate this special milestone exhibition. We’d love to see you there.

Final weekend to catch the amazing exhibition of David Rossiter. An incredibly successful exhibition full of colour and wonder. David will be in the gallery this Saturday and Sunday. The exhibition finishes on Sunday at 4pm. We hope to see you here.

THE TALBURAC ART PRIZE 2026

The Talburac Art Prize returns, with the exhibition running from 11 December 2026 to 10 January 2027.

This year’s theme, In Between, invites artists to explore transitions, thresholds, contrasts, connection, uncertainty, growth, and the spaces that exist in between.

Submissions open 1 August 2026. So mark your calendars!

First Prize: $10,000
Additional prizes will be announced in the coming weeks.

Open to artists residing within the G21 region.

We look forward to seeing how artists interpret this year’s theme. Stay tuned for more details.

Last chance to experience the vibrant and hugely successful exhibition by artist David Rossiter at Hoop Gallery.

The exhibition reopens this Thursday and runs through to Sunday — your final opportunity to view this colourful and expressive collection before it closes.

David will also be in the gallery over the weekend for anyone who would like to meet the artist in person and chat about the works, process, and inspiration behind the exhibition.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome our next exhibition, Finding Form — a dynamic sculpture exhibition bringing together four artists exploring the relationship between material, structure, and expression.
