I'm incredibly humbled and grateful to be named the recipient of the inaugural Rambert Grades Examiners Choice Award in Australia for outstanding exam results in the 2024 season!

Thank you to all the gorgeous Dance Central dancers through Grades 1-7 who succeeded in pushing their boundaries and growing as young dance artists through the examination process.

Thank you also to Rambert Grades for the recognition of our hard work and dedication, and for providing such a brilliant framework for excellence in contemporary dance training.

Another exciting win at Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge with my pieces for Albany Creek State High School Senior Dance Excellence team being awarded 1st and 2nd in the highly competitive open contemporary section!
Congratulations to the beautiful performers, rehearsal director Jayne Fien and HOA Deb Ruellen for bringing these works to fruition.

1st for the Senior Excellence Contemporary section at BPAC with ‘Flow State’ and 2nd for ‘Ravens’ choreographed by the fabulous Jen Murray and rehearsed by Ms Fien .In the same section we also had our Junior Dance Excellence perform ‘Orchestra’ choreographed by Ms Fien achieve Very Highly Commended. Great work dance excellence.

These young dancers performed my work on the stage of the Sydney Opera House with total confidence, passion and professionalism. Congratulations to each and every one of them

Hot on the heels of outstanding performances at the Sydney Eisteddfod, the Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge (BPAC) and CGEN, Albany Creek State High School Program of Excellence dancers performed at the Sydney Dance Eisteddfod Dance of Champions on Sunday 23 July. 🌟

This is an invitation-only showcase for six schools or dance studios across Australia and New Zealand, selected from the heats of the eisteddfod to perform during the Sydney Dance Eisteddfod Gala at the Opera House.

This is a culminating event to showcase the talent, technique and exceptionally high standard of dance in Australia.

The Albany Creek Dance Excellence students performed ‘Swan Lake Redux’ choreographed by Jen Murray and rehearsed by senior dance teacher Jayne Fien.

😍 Fien says her students are excited beyond belief about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Student Bianca expressed her delight at performing at the event.

“I never dreamed I would be given the opportunity to dance on a world-class stage,” she says.

Another student Riley says, “Performing at the Sydney Opera House is one of the greatest opportunities we are yet to experience since being part of the ACSHS Dance program.”

“The Sydney Eisteddfod exceeded our expectations so we cannot wait to see what the Opera House Gala will bring to the team.”

The school is incredibly proud of the fantastic work of their dancers and the manner in which they have embraced educational opportunities to excel both individually and collectively. 🎉🤩

Albany Creek State High School enjoys a hard-earned reputation for excellence in dance. This is a fitting opportunity for such a talented and highly skilled team of dancers under the guidance of their dedicated teachers.

Senior Dance Excellence students are at the airport this morning on the way to Sydney to perform at the Sydney Eisteddfod Gala at the Sydney Opera House. Good luck dancers.

We are so excited for past student Lilly to be hosting an intensive with us these school holidays!! This intensive is designed to further dancers and give an insight into the dance industry outside of school. It focuses on aspects of improvisation, techniques and skills that help with facilitating new creative pathways and choices. Additionally, dancers will learn choreography specifically designed to challenge and develop their choreographic vocabulary, concentrating on engaging new stylistic choices and ways of responding to music.
