MASTER THE ART OF WORKING WITH WATER & INKS

June 24 or June 25 -choose your date!

There's a kind of painting that doesn't come from control, it comes from conversation. Between you, the water, the ink, and whatever happens when you stop trying to force it.

That's what this day is about.
Join Queensland abstract artist Amica Aindow for a full-day immersive workshop exploring the fluid, unpredictable, and deeply satisfying world of ink and water-based abstract painting. Amica has spent years developing a distinctive practice working with water, ink, air and time - forming organic patterns that evolve freely before being distilled into calm, balanced compositions. Her work has been exhibited widely across Australia and internationally, with features on The Block and Grand Designs.

In this workshop, she opens that practice up entirely. You'll work with inks, fluid mediums and techniques drawn from natural processes -learning to work with your materials rather than against them - and walk away with a finished painting that's genuinely, unmistakably yours.

✨ No experience necessary. Just curiosity.

26 June - 26 July 2026

Opening Night Friday 26 June 6-8pm

Open Field brings together four artists working across abstraction in a shared exploration of colour, movement, and atmosphere. Spanning expressive abstraction, subtle landscape references and botanical forms, the exhibition reflects a range of approaches united by a sense of openness and quiet connection.

Rather than converging on a single visual language, the works exist in relation: soft tensions, subtle shifts, and moments of pause to create an atmosphere that is both intimate and expansive.

Featuring work by Amica Aindow, Cristina Metelli (image), Cate Maddy and Diana Wiseman.

We’d love to see you there.

This is my latest collection of work, Pocketful of Tide exhibiting this June with

If you’d like a private preview of the new paintings, type “preview” below and I’ll send you the link 🌊

Remember being a kid and spending entire afternoons collecting shells and pebbles like they were actual treasure? Pockets full of sandy bits, completely content just looking for beautiful things the ocean left behind.

That’s where these paintings came from.

Each piece formed almost like a mandala — shell-like shapes radiating from a calm centre. I didn’t consciously plan them that way (I rarely plan anything, honestly), but while painting I kept returning to that feeling of crouching down at the shoreline and finding something unexpectedly beautiful.

The palette moves through sandy neutrals, oceanic blues, stormy purples and tender sunset pinks.

Same shore. Different moments. Same self. Different days.

The finishing touches are my favourite and my worst nightmare.Because everything is looking so good…where one tiny decision determines if it’s holy wow… or holy sh*t. No pressure. Just hours of work on the line 🤞😱💕😳

Is this one thing quietly killing your creativity?
Most people don’t struggle with creativity.
They STRANGLE IT!

When you begin by putting way too much pressure and expectation on yourself and scrutinising every move you make. Second guessing and overthinking. Too much pushing… not enough playing.

Try this instead:

• Quit asking it to “work”
• Follow what’s happening, not what you planned. Hold your plan loosely.
• Keep it just for you at first
• Follow your spontaneity and enjoy acts of randomness and breaking your routines.
• Share once the play is done

Confidence usually shows up after you’ve let yourself play. 😙

Save this for when you’re gripping too tightly! 🤍
