Join us today! Biodanza is a progressive dance and movement system for human development, supporting our innate potential for health and wellbeing. Biodanza means “dance of life”, originating from bios which means "life" and danza meaning “dance” as integrated movement full of meaning. Biodanza began in the mind of Rolando Toro Araneda, a Chilean teacher, psychologist, poet, and painter, in the 19
60s. The system was born from his desire to live in a more peaceful and compassionate world. Currently Biodanza is practised in more than 50 countries. The regular practice of Biodanza increases our capacity to connect with ourselves, others, life, and nature; reduces stress and supports our bodies to self-regulate and repair; and reconnects us with our original instincts, like resting or sleeping when we are tired. Biodanza is based on intense lived experiences of the present, the here and now, called vivencias, which are induced by dance, music and connection with other people in a group. Participants commonly leave Biodanza sessions feeling more energetic, content, relaxed and connected with people and life again.
“Biodanza is about learning to dance with life and rediscovering the pleasure of living.” Rolando Toro Araneda. The Biodanza session starts with an optional verbal sharing about experiences from the previous session, then a brief introduction by the facilitator of the week's theme followed by an hour plus of invitations to dance flowing from active and rhythmic dances to slower and more melodic ones. The facilitator will often demonstrate their version of the dance before inviting participants to move and dance as they feel - expressing themselves through their own movement. There are no specific steps to learn in Biodanza. Biodanza is accessible for everyone regardless of age or ability. Gabriela, is a fully certified Biodanza facilitator who facilitates sessions for adults only (18+ years) at this stage. We recommended to dress in layered comfortable clothes, to dance barefoot (however, you could wear non-slip socks or light dance/sport shoes), and to bring a water bottle. You can expect:
* Music, dance and movement that free your natural flow
* Inspiration and experimentation with free and guided movement
* Uplifting social connection and fun
* Shifts in body, heart and mind! Each week is a re-set away from stress towards joy and freedom!
