***WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER***

Last night we took the Inside Lane Sim Sports Ford Mustang V8 Supercar to the LA Coliseum for some short track craziness in the Skypoynt Dirt Oval Series special tarmac event. With not much time to practice due to hardware issues, my pace in both the prac session and the Qualifying session were off, placing last in Q1 and starting from the back for Heat 1. With only 15 laps, getting through the field on a quarter mile track was going to be difficult, to say the least. The car hooked up and turned into an absolute hot rod driving through the field to get the Mustang to 3rd and with a last lap incident between the lead and 2nd place car, we were able to sn**ch the win, awarding us Pole for the main race.
Main race started well, holding the lead for 12 laps before submitting to 2nd place, not wanting to race aggressively so early in the race. Falling in behind the lead car and settling into a rhythm, whilst using a slow in/fast out approach, we let the race come to us. With 25 laps to go, our competitors tires started to fall off, allowing the Inside Lane Mustang to regain the lead, slowly building a gap out to 1.8 seconds. A late yellow recompacted the field for a Green/White/Checkered finish. With two to go, the field had little to bring to us and we drove off to a 0.9 second lead in the 800m left of racing, to take home the win!

Last night we took the ILP Sprint Car to Eldora Speedway for some sideways action. With a moderately small field the racing was clean for the most part and the track didn't turn into an ice skating rink in the first 10 laps, allowing for some great slide jobs. With a late incident between McKenzie and Mortensen, we were able to grab 3rd place and hold onto it for the green/white/checker, putting the car on the podium and claiming back 2nd in the C'Ship. With only 4 points separating myself and Tomlin, it is going to come down to the wire in a fortnights time, when we head to Bristol.

Today I am sharing a car with 3 other gentlemen and competing in the iRacing 24hrs of Spa. With qualifying completed the car gridded up towards the end of the field in 47th place and Luke Swan was tasked with starting duties. After two hours and a double stint in the BMW M4 GT3, Luke handed the car over to Will Yesberg in a very respectable 15th. Leaving the pits in 33rd and in less than an hour, Will has driven the car back into 18th place. The car has no damage, is fast and competitive. With over 21hrs left in the race we still have a long way to go but confident a top 10 finish is not out of the question

Last night we went short track racing at Iowa. A 0.8 mile track with wide and steep banked corners. The car had pace and I was looking after my tires a lot better than most of the field. A yellow flag after I had pitted saw us a go a lap down but fortunately I got the lucky dog which brought me back on to the lead lap. Carving through the field, I climbed my way up to 9th before bringing it into pits one last time with 65 to go. With everything lined up for a top ten finish, I was carving through the field and looked to have a lot of under cuts locked in. Unfortunately, repeated blocking by a car on much older tires saw frustrations climb through the roof and attempts to pass were made, that under normal circumstances I would not have gone for. Slow car blocking + fast car + frustrated driver made a collision inevitable and sure enough it happened. After taking repairs, we found ourselves in 20th position and 3 laps down. The car still had pace and still pointed in a straight line, with that I managed to push the car up to a semi respectable 15th and closing the gap on 14th hard, with it going from 11 secs to 3.8 secs in the space of the last ten laps.
Although less than an ideal result, I walked away learning a lot about short track racing. With it behind us, we dust ourselves off, load the car on the trailer and head to Phoenix Raceway. A 1.5 mile, low banked track that is sure to cause some action.
