Meet ROBYN GRAY, our fabulous featured artist!
Robyn started painting later in life. Unlike many artists, she wasn't especially drawn to art as a child - she preferred spending her time reading and writing poems. Her interest in painting began in her forties, but it wasn't until 2016 that she found the time to really explore and practice regularly.
"Predominantly I am drawn to paint figures in landscape in an impressionistic style," Robyn says, "which over the years has resulted in building a demand from collectors for bespoke art commissions."
Robyn has had a varied career - office work, merchandising, dental receptionist, and qualifying as a Diversional Therapist in her forties, working part time in the field for seven years in psychiatric and dementia care.
"I believe in the therapeutic value of creative pursuits, and that is why I decided to study Diversional Therapy," she explains. "This varied career gave me a lot of avenues to people watch, observe, and listen to their stories - and that's why I feel the need to put figures in landscape that tell a story, to communicate through my art."
Her inspiration comes from nature, the beach, and everyday scenes of life around us. "I strive to convey the way the light picks up ordinary objects and turns them into extraordinary," she says.
