Thank you to everyone who came out to the launch of the 2027 Look Up, Listen calendar and the Land and Sky exhibition .thomas_toora curated by Deborah Read 🐦

It was a beautiful opening with a display of equally wonderful local artists, showing us once again just how creative and talented this region is.

We began by acknowledging the Gunaikurnai, the Traditional Owners of the land where we create, connect and gather. We pay our respects because this land and sky were cared for by the Traditional Owners for at least 65,000 years. And we have the privilege of learning from the oldest continuous living culture in the world - old wisdom about how this very land thrives, the waters move and the sky guides us.

Calendar launch tomorrow!

The 2027 Look Up, Listen calendar, full of birds by local artists, launches this Saturday 17 Oct, 4-6pm at St Thomas, Toora!

It coincides with the second iteration of the exhibition curated by Deborah Read "Land and Sky" displaying a huge collection of local artists in the church gallery at St Thomas

This weekend is the last weekend to get along to to see the exhibition "Printmaking with the Toora Little Press" and participate Saturday and Sunday 12-3pm where you can make your own print for $10

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Jennie Teskey

Jennie Teskey is a local musician and emerging artist. She began her visual arts practice in 2018 and has been working with the Toora Little Press since 2024. For this exhibition, Jennie presents four multilayered monoprints exploring the two great loves of her life: music and her garden.

Two prints, "Broken Record 1" and "Broken Record 2", draw on her own musical journey as one half of the duo Toora Teskeys, which has played widely across the region and recently released an album. Another piece, "Floating Holly", was created while experimenting with Christmas imagery and motifs in late 2025. The final work, "Forest Floor", depicts foliage gathered from her own garden in Toora. Together, the works reflect Jennie's experience of life in South Gippsland, and a creative practice that continues to evolve under the guidance of the Toora Little Press.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Hilary Skelton

Hilary Skelton is an emerging printmaker based in South Gippsland, working with lino, monoprint and polyester plate printing. Her work often draws on the places, people and ideas around her, with a mix of observation, experimentation and humour.

The work on exhibition is from a series of lino prints that came from her son's love of Godzilla and his many drawings inspired by Godzilla movies. They are a collaboration between the artist and her son, injecting new energy, fantasy, humour and rage to the creations of his imagination.

Hilary and her son first worked with the Toora Arts Network in the ArtCubes in 2024, taking a month-long residency with the Toora Little Press. She has since worked regularly with the Press developing her practice and has featured her work in several exhibitions in the region.

We are so proud to have opened "Printmaking with the Toora Little Press" at

In 2001, Jodie Newell wrote in the Mirror "It's all happening arts wise in Toora... Steadily becoming a burgeoning arts district". Referencing what was once a thriving Toora Village Creative Arts Centre hosted in the milk factory in the early 2000's and the beloved community press. The Toora Little Press has a very special history in South Gippsland with artists involved in running workshops on the Press since it was purchased with a grant in early 1990's. It's well known across the Gippsland region and highly regarded as a hub for budding and established printmakers. It has now resurfaced under the stewardship of the Toora Arts Network which formed in 2024. The Network endeavours to recover the once burgeoning arts district in Toora. Our community is privileged to still have this Press in operation and we're hoping to share this deeply embedded community asset and preserve its long history.
