My duo Gaku's next concert in Beechworth!
We will perform our very exciting program - Stravinsky, Gordon Kerry and Prokofiev!
Border pianist Helena Kernaghan and violinist Kaori Sparks perform in Anglican Christ Church Beechworth as Duo Gaku 楽 on 14 March, 2026, playing works by Igor Stravinsky, Gordon Kerry and Sergei Prokofiev.
Helena is Albury Chamber Music Festival's founding artistic director and Kaori toured Europe as a member of the Tokyo-Budapest String Quartet and Tokyo-Budapest Ensemble. Kaori has also performed with the Salzburg Festival Orchestra and Hungarian National Orchestra.
After playing chamber music together for many years and wishing further to explore the repertoire for violin and piano, they formed Duo Gaku 楽 in November 2025.
Their recital in our 1858/1864-built granite church includes works by Russian-born composer Stravinsky, Ukrainian-born Prokofiev and the post-premiere of a new 𝘝𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘕𝘰.2 by North East composer Gordon Kerry. The work was commissioned for them by Carolyn Masel.
