What if some of the tools used in surgery today were designed over 1,000 years ago? 🩺

Meet Al-Zahrawi, the Andalusian physician whose work shaped the future of medicine.

His surgical encyclopedia, Al-Tasrif, influenced doctors for centuries, and many of his innovations changed how we understand surgery today.

A reminder that the history of science is filled with groundbreaking minds from the Muslim world.

The richest person in history wasn’t a modern billionaire, he was a 14th-century African Muslim ruler. 👑✨

Mansa Musa’s wealth came from the gold and salt trade of the Mali Empire, but his legacy went far beyond riches.

From transforming Timbuktu into a centre of learning to bringing scholars and architects from across the Muslim world, his story shows the power of knowledge, faith, and vision.

What stories can an object tell?

In You Left Something Behind (Wangkumara Woman), artist Racquel Austin-Abdullah explores the life of her great-great-grandmother through glass, fabric, and thread.

The work reflects on family history, memory, and the experience of being an Aboriginal Muslim woman, wife, and mother. Through the act of making, Austin-Abdullah reimagines a story that might otherwise be lost to time.

Sometimes the most powerful histories aren't found in textbooks, they're carried through families, materials, and the stories we choose to preserve.

🐪 Meet Mahomet Allum, the Muslim herbalist who became one of South Australia’s most talked-about figures.
From working as a cameleer in the Australian interior to treating patients from his Adelaide home, Mahomet Allum built a reputation that made headlines across the country.

Loved by supporters, criticised by authorities, and remembered for his charity and generosity, his story remains one of the most fascinating chapters of early Muslim Australian history.
