ART DEPARTMENT MASTERCLASS 2026: DIGITAL POSTPRODUCTION
November 5-10 / Vilnius, Lithuania

Don’t miss the application deadline for the Art Department Masterclass Digital Postproduction session. Apply via the website by 11:59 CET on Tuesday 1st September!

APPLY NOW

This session takes place November 5-10 in Vilnius, Lithuania, and explores how virtual production and VFX are transforming the art department's creative and technical role in postproduction.

Expert speakers will demonstrate how they've integrated digital tools and virtual production into their workflows, covering:

Designing for post: balancing built sets vs. digital environments for cost-efficiency and narrative impact
Collaborating with VFX and postproduction supervisors: establishing common language and workflows across departments
Green/blue screen strategies: aesthetic and technical considerations
Virtual production and real-time design tools
Remote collaboration and real-time visualization platforms
Digital archiving and paperless set management

Participants will also work on a hands-on practical assignment with Twinmotion, the real-time visualisation tool.

The Art Department Masterclass is for art department professionals from all over the world with at least 5 years of professional experience. 20 participants are selected for each training session.

🎬 Watch the Making of: World Building | Art Department Masterclass 2026

Earlier this year, 20 art department professionals from across the world came together in Turin for six days of lectures, case studies and practical learning as part of the Art Department Masterclass World Building session.

The programme explored how production designers develop, communicate and bring visual concepts to life, with guidance from leading industry experts including Ludovica Ferrario, Uli Hanisch, Christina Moore, Anne Seibel, Valérie Valéro, Patrice Vermette and ADM alumnus Tim Tamke.

The practical assignment was developed in collaboration with projects from Midpoint Institute and The OWL Screenwriting Workshop, giving participants the opportunity to put their learning into practice.

Watch the video to discover more about the programme, the participants and their experience in Turin.

MENTORAPDG is an APDG initiative designed to support live performance and screen designers and associated disciplines in the early stages of their careers. Successful applicants will be paired with an established practitioner with whom they will meet throughout 2026/2027.

While the program was established for emerging practitioners and continues to support them via this program, the APDG also encourages mid-career applicants who are looking to use their experience in the industry to transfer their skills into another role within their department. For example a Costume Standby (with a minimum two years professional experience in that role), seeking to transition to Costume Supervisor.

The program is open for the following specialistations:

SCREEN: Production Design, Costume Design, Art Direction, Hair & Make-up Design, Set Decoration, Props Master, Costume Supervisor.

LIVE PERFORMANCE: Set Design, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Video Design, Event Design, Set & Costume Design.

Find out more: https://apdg.org.au/resources/mentorapdg

Applications close September 20.
