A Little EKKA Update... 🎡✨
This year marked our 6th year performing at the EKKA!
From 2019 to 2025, the Ekka provided our Senior Performance Group with an incredible community performance opportunity to take to the Main Stage and dance their hearts out. It has always been a performance that our dancers look forward to each year!
This year, however, things looked a little different, with the Ekka performance changing to an eisteddfod. We definitely we went back and forth about if we should enter. On one hand, Show Dance is proudly a non-competitive dance school. But on the other, the Ekka has been such a special performance opportunity for our dancers, and we didn’t want them to miss out.
Ultimately, we decided to take part, not to compete, but to give our dancers another opportunity to do what they love most: perform!
It was also the perfect opportunity to showcase our exclusive 20-minute Disney routine for the very first time before taking it all the way to Hong Kong! Our dancers rehearsed, worked incredibly hard, and gave absolutely everything to their performance, just as they have every year.
And to our absolute surprise and excitement, we were not only recognised for all of their hard work, we came away with 1st Place! 🥇🏆
This was our 6th year performing at the Ekka, and as always, we danced because we love it. We never stepped onto that stage to win. We danced for each other, for the joy of performing, and because that’s what Show Dance is all about.
A huge thank you to Jasmine & Luis for creating such an incredible routine, and to Jemma for giving up her time to support our dancers through the extra rehearsals. Also a huge congratulations to our dancers, whom without none of this would be possible!
