CLAY SCULPTURAL HANDBUILDING WORKSHOPS
Learn the fundamental techniques to build sculptural forms in clay. Bring your ideas to our free-range classes and create it in clay, under the guidance of sculptor Brock O’Hara.
Each class begins with a 45 minute ‘Foundation Lesson’, that may include tutorials ranging from handbuilding, sculpting facial features: the lips or the nose, creating surface texture or slab construction techniques. These foundation lessons culminate in a completed canister with lid and sculptural details.
A following 1 hour and 45 minutes will be dedicated to your ‘Free Range’ project. You might choose a few smaller and varied projects that span the 5 week block, or focus on one intensive project for the duration.
Projects range from masks, murals, abstract figurative forms, small facial busts, sculptural pots to architectural forms. Course costs include all materials and use of tools. Firing and glazing is not provided, but referral for local firing services is provided.
