🌊The Story Behind the Mural Connected by Water, Connected by Community.🍃🤎
At the heart of this mural is PCYC, represented by the large central gathering circle.
It symbolises PCYC as a place where people come together a gathering place for young people, families and the wider community to connect, learn, grow and support one another.
Flowing throughout the mural are the turquoise waterways, representing the Tuggerah Lakes system and the waterways that connect communities across the area.
Like flowing water, our community is constantly moving, connecting and bringing people together.
The water represents the idea that although we may come from different places and have different stories, we are all connected.
The waterways flow through the landscape, connecting people, communities and Country just as the relationships built at PCYC create connections that extend beyond its walls.
The central gathering circle represents PCYC as a meeting place within this larger network.
From the centre, the waterways flow outward, connecting to the smaller gathering circles that represent the many families, young people, community groups and individuals who make up the Tuggerah Lakes community.
The smaller circles remind us that every person has their own story and journey, but when those journeys come together, they create a stronger and more connected community.
The waves and flowing pathways represent movement, connection and life's journey, while the leaves, flowers and natural elements represent growth, strength, healing and new beginnings.
The many dots and patterns throughout the mural represent the stories, relationships, people and experiences that make our community unique.
Most importantly, this mural is about connection connection to Country, Culture, waterways and each other.
