🎨 Something big is coming to Gallery One.

Every year the Silent Auction takes over the gallery and for ten days, Tamworth falls a little bit in love with art. People come back again and again — checking bids, discovering new favourites, debating whether to go higher. It's electric.

This year we have 80 artists and over 250 works across painting, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, jewellery and more. The calibre just keeps getting better.

Opening night is Thursday 2 July at 6pm. Free entry. All welcome.

If you've never been — this is the year. And if you're already a regular, you know what to do. 😉

Road Trip has arrived at Gunnedah Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery, and it’s well worth the drive.

This vibrant collaborative exhibition brings together 13 regional women artists, each with their own unique style, medium and creative practice. The idea for the exhibition was sparked after artist Joanne Stead heard a local wrecking yard was closing down and proposed an inspired challenge: each artist would select discarded car parts as both canvas and inspiration.

The result is an extraordinary collection of works that transforms the unexpected into something imaginative, expressive and beautifully diverse.

Featuring works by Karen Balsar, Lyniece Keogh, Rachel Wells, Wendy Thompson, Jodie Herden, Jess Tribe, Emma Stilts, Joanne Stead, Lauren Mackley, Waabii Chapman-Burgess, Awan Eveleigh and Tess Reading.

If you love contemporary regional art, creative collaboration and seeing artists push boundaries in surprising ways, make sure you take a road trip of your own to see this exhibition before it closes on 26 June.

Gather some friends, plan a gallery day and support our incredible regional artists. 🚗✨

Last Thursday, we celebrated the joint opening of two incredible new exhibitions, and the energy was electric! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for a night of art, community, and local flavor.

The Peel River Ramblers kept the atmosphere jumping with live music, while the folks from Dobsons Distillery, treated us to a spectacular gin tasting. The "Sweet Pea" was definitely the crowd favorite of the night! 🌸🍸

But the real stars are now officially on the walls. Don’t miss:

"Exploration of Line": A stunning showcase by three of our talented local fibre and textile artists: Sophie Honess, Sybil Orr, and Tanya Hartigan.

"Self Sabotage": The first solo exhibition by Murrurundi-based artist David Darcy. It’s a powerful must-see—David is featured again this year’s Archibald Prize!

These exhibitions are now open and waiting for you. Come in, support our regional artists, and get inspired.

🎨 Opening Night – Thursday 7 May 🎨

We’re also sharing Self Sabotage by David Darcy, opening at Tamworth Regional Gallery.

Known for his award-winning portraiture, Darcy takes a bold new direction in this exhibition, pushing beyond realism into distortion, colour, gesture and a touch of madness.

Opening on the same night as Exploration of Line, it’s a great chance to experience two very different exhibitions in one visit.

📅 6pm, Thursday 7 May
Come along and enjoy a fantastic evening of art.

SELF SABOTAGE, Portraits by David Darcy

📌Exhibition opens 8 May - 21 June, Tamworth Regional Gallery

David Darcy is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Murrurundi, NSW. He has won numerous portrait awards in Australia including the People’s Choice Award at both the Archibald Prize and the National Portrait Gallery and was recently commissioned by Parliament House to paint the Honourable Bob Katter for the Historic Memorial Collection.

Having achieved great recognition for traditional portraiture in Australia, David Darcy once again reinvents his practice with Self Sabotage. These latest portraits fragment realism and embrace distortion, colour, gesture and a little madness.

✨ Opening Night – Thursday 7 May ✨

We’re excited to share Exploration of Line, a beautiful exhibition celebrating the work of local textile artists Sophie Honess, Sybil Orr and Tania Hartigan at Tamworth Regional Gallery.

Working across both two- and three-dimensional forms, each artist explores the idea of “line” in their own way, from delicate and detailed to bold and sculptural.

This exhibition opens alongside David Darcy's solo exhibition on the same night, making it a perfect opportunity to visit the gallery and take it all in.

📅 6pm, Thursday 7 May
We hope to see you there!

EXPLORATION OF LINE
SOPHIE HONESS | SYBIL ORR | TANIA HARTIGAN

2 May - 28 June

Celebrating our local, regional textile artists, the exhibition 'Exploration of Line' allows artists Sophie Honess, Sybil Orr and Tania Hartigan to individually explore the concept of 'line', using a wide variety of materials, techniques and formats, including two-dimensional and three-dimensional sculptural presentations.

With this exhibition representing the visual and perceptive meeting point of all three interpretations, 'line', in a physical sense, is widely interpreted and presented; straight, fractured, diverging and converging.
