Kicking off our new Fringe HQ location in Eliza street is The Crashing Water Theatre Company's presentation of Spike Heels- a modern American classic written by Theresa Rebeck and Directed by Serhat Caradee. Set in 1990s Boston, Spike Heels is a razor-sharp, cheeky and deeply funny play. Modern day gender/power dynamics come into play when a spritely young woman finds her identity tussled between a patronising scholar, a misogynistic lawyer and the scholar's jealous fiancée. Frustratingly, Spike Heels is just as relevant as ever.
With the play’s revival situated amid the recent Australian revelations of large scale sexual misconduct in parliament and the corporate world, Spike Heels demonstrates to us exactly how little has changed in thirty years, and how far we have yet to go.
Spike Heels will run at Fringe HQ Newtown between 19th to the 29th of May. Tickets are now on sale via our website: https://sydneyfringe.com/events/spike-heels/
In case that isn’t enough to satiate- we have a plethora of shows coming up over the coming months at Fringe HQ to feast on. Visit our website to learn more: https://sydneyfringe.com/venues/fringe-hq/
