Directors wanted!

𝐃𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃!

Short+Sweet Sydney is back for 2027, and we’re looking for directors to join us in our brand-new home at Flight Path Theatre.

Running from 4 January – 13 February 2027, this year’s festival is all about building community, championing artists and creating a space where exciting new work can thrive.

Whether you’re an experienced director, an emerging artist looking to build your credits, or an actor/creative ready to step into directing for the first time, we’d love to hear from you.

Directors will have the opportunity to read the top 100 scripts from the international playwriting competition, build their own creative team and cast, and bring their chosen work to life as part of the Short+Sweet Sydney season.

Short+Sweet is a brilliant playground for directors: ten minutes to take a risk, try something new, meet new collaborators and tell a great story. You only need to commit to 1 week (or "heat") with selected plays offered a spot in the Semi-Finals and Gala Finals.

You’ll also become part of our wider 2027 festival community at Flight Path, with opportunities to connect with fellow directors, writers, actors and creatives throughout the season.

No production fee. No need to arrive with a full team. Just bring your ideas, your enthusiasm and your love of theatre.

Expressions of Interest are now open: https://forms.gle/L1MYyph7o1sRJ1fw6

Any queries - comment below as you're probably not alone!
