While Sydney sweltered, our thoughtful artists gathered in air conditioned KXT for a beautiful development of new work, Iris. The day culminated in a reading with generous attendees.

Creatives Olivia Clement and Whitney Richards were recently reunited for the first time since the 2024 production of The Arrogance.
The reunion marked Australia’s first development of Olivia’s stunning new work, Iris, which follows a couple in the aftermath of a miscarriage.
T’was a rigorous, joyous and creatively fulfilling day working on a subject that touches many but often goes unspoken.

Big thank you to bAKEHOUSE tHEATRE Company and KXT for housing us and supporting the work.

Iowa tid bits continued…
The Iowa Writers’ Workshop has been a vital space for writers since 1936 and has seen thousands of notable writers pass through its walls including our very own Olivia Clement, who graduated from the Iowa Playwrights Workshop.

Former faculty have included Kurt Vonnegut, Philip Roth, John Cheever and Marilynne Robinson.

The prestigious program, which has been a magnet for writers and influenced the course of creative writing in the States, helped make Iowa City one of UNESCO’s first designated Cities of Literature.

You also may remember the final season of HBO’s TV series, Girls, Hannah Horvath enrolls in the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
