WEEK 2 OF PYT@FRINGE BEGINS IN 2 DAYS 🎉

How does it work? From 10-12 September, Dancing With the Roots will present at 6:30pm, bump out their show and There’s Nothing Funny About Social Work will commence it’s showing at 8pm. Fringe is a time for hustle and boy do our artists know it!

THE REAL COMEDY + FREE WORKSHOPS 🎙️

The Real Comedy is a new solo work led by PYT alumni Helen Guliana. The work is both an artistic experiment and journey of self-discovery that uses drama and comedy to explore her experiences as a woman.

As part of this work, there will be two days inviting women from Fairfield’s culturally diverse communities to join a FREE creative storytelling and comedy workshop led by Jennifer Wong! No experience is needed and we’d love to have you there.

DIRECTING AND DEVISING EXCHANGE DAY 🎭

Two weeks ago, PYT Fairfield were joined by the amazing teams from CAAP (Contemporary Asian Australian Performance) and Shopfront Arts to co-facilitate a day full of learning, collaboration and yummy food!

12 young people from Asian backgrounds were selected to participate in this awesome program which focused on tools and skills for both directing and devising works for the stage.

How lucky are we to host such a talented bunch of young people with some of Sydney’s best organisations all under our own roof?

Spoiler alert: the answer is VERY ✨

Stage Soldiers is a new mixed-media theatre work exploring gender fluidity in contrast with growing up in Australian military culture. It’s a personal, emotional, and aggressive work that gives voice to one of many q***r Australian stories today. It’s a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance with a few laughs along the way and it’s a powerful and brave telling in a community that thrives on difference, but is yet to fully welcome this difference.
