Jim Chen Art & Photography Jim Chen Photographer ‘When I set out to capture a photograph I find myself attracted to capturing the natural world, rather than the people who occupy it.

My pictures generally don’t contain cityscapes, sail boats or other such human constructions. I take a tent, a sleeping bag and cooking utensils. I go somewhere outside the city, camp out for a few days, and the only thing I do is walk and photograph. It is my belief that scenic photography contains an angle that is overlooked by many and it has its own sense of novelty and beauty. It can be sung

Jim Chen, photographer, artist, journalist and graphic designer migrated to Australia from Ningbo, China in 1990. Since then, he has explored the unsung corners of Australia’s vast land and captured them with an impressionist artist’s eyes, through his camera lens. The recipient of many awards throughout his illustrious career, he has recently published a collection of his photographs, that portray his travels around the hidden corners of the unique natural beauties of Australia. ‘Unseen Australia’ (Published by Gallery21.net).

I like quiet. The natural world in a state of stillness gives me a sense of peace and calm. I spend a great deal of time capturing the beautiful moments of the landscape. I believe that the beauty of the natural world in stillness makes you healthier physically and mentally.

Jim Chen explained his photo exhibition The Beauty of Stillness at his opening: "When time comes to choose a picture to hang on my wall at home I prefer a peaceful one because home is a resting place. A small patch of pure nature, a piece of pure art, is a perfect place to turn my eyes away from daily tasks and thoughts".
