Psalm 8:3-4 | Psalm Collection

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭8‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I’ve always loved looking at the clouds and the stars in the sky, the vast oceans and rolling mountains…but a core memory of being completely floored by God’s creation was when I went star-gazing at the top of Mount John Observatory, in Tekapo in New Zealand. Although the night was complete darkness, no sign of any pollution air or light; when you looked upwards, there were what seemed like millions of stars shining as bright as day. That was the first time I saw the Milky Way. It was also the first time I felt so small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Just how big is God, the creator and sustainer of all things in the universe? And even if you don’t believe in God, you can’t help but be completely awestruck.

Yet, in great His love and mercy, God created humans in his image. The God of the Bible isn’t some cold and distant deity, but he is a relational God. Though we have done nothing to deserve his kindness, he first loved us. He knows us personally. He knows our deepest thoughts and desires. We are known and loved by our creator.

So the next time you look up at the sky and see the moon and the stars, I hope you’ll be reminded of this wonderful truth ❤️

Psalm 7:9 | Psalm Collection

“Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure— you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭7‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV

David knows the character of God well - that God is righteous and knows all things. Nothing can be hidden from God for he sees our minds and our hearts clearly, even better than we can. Moreover, God will judge justly. This is a great comfort as we can find refuge in our God who is righteous and incorruptible.

Psalm 5:12 | Psalm Collection

David cries out to God in lament and waits expectantly for his prayers to be answered. He knows that God is not pleased with wickedness, evil, deceit or arrogance- they are cast out of God’s presence. But David has hope because blessed are the righteous and those who take refuge in the Lord, for His protection rests over them.

“But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”

Psalm 4:8 | Psalm Collection

“Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
How long will you people turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods,
Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.
Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord.
Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
Let the light of your face shine on us.

In times of distress, who or what do you turn to?
For me, in the moment, it is easy to find comfort in anything but God; looking to created things, rather than the Creator Himself. I often need to repent and ask for forgiveness and be reminded of God’s promises and blessings I have abundantly through Jesus. I can have peace knowing that Jesus will never forsake me, especially in the darkest of times when I feel helpless and defeated.

I hope you will also be encouraged to find comfort and hope in the Lord ❤️

Psalm 3:4 | Psalm Collection

“Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. Arise, Lord! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.”

Even when David is being hunted down to be killed, he remembers God and calls out to Him. And God answers David. The reason why David can sleep and wake up each day is because God is sustaining David and protecting Him.

Sometimes it feels like the world is caving in and there’s so much suffering and no end in sight…sometimes it may seem like you are shrouded in darkness and that God is so far away and unreachable…

But what a wonderful comfort it is knowing that our Holy God sees us and hears our prayers. He is not far away. We can rest in his love, grace and mercy. We can also look forward to the day where we will be delivered and a time where suffering, pain, mourning and death will come to an end. Oh, how I long for this day to come.

Psalm 2:12B | Psalm Collection

“Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”

The Lord Almighty is immensely powerful beyond human comprehension. We ought to approach the throne with fear and trembling and serve Him, and rightly so. Yet, at the same time, we can be assured that He is a safe place where we can find refuge, always. Through what Jesus has accomplished on the cross, we can now approach the throne of grace with confidence. Because it’s not what we do that makes us right with God, nor do our works make us better than the next person; but it is by God’s grace and mercy through Jesus that we are no longer under His wrath.

What an amazing comfort it is knowing we can take refuge in our all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present Creator!

Psalm 94:19

“In the multitude of my thoughts within me Thy comforts delight my soul.”

Dear friend, even if no one else in the world could possibly comprehend the exact difficulties you are currently facing or how helpless you might be feeling, the Creator of the universe knows.

Completely.

May you find comfort in His word and trust in His power, His sovereignty and His goodness. He is light and hope in utter darkness.

You are loved. Even when you don’t feel it or feel like you deserve it.
You are dearly loved ❤️

Psalm 1: 1A-2 | Psalm Collection

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

I recently started to draw again as I was inspired by the book of Psalms. I have challenged myself to draw from a verse or two from each psalm…and there’s 150 psalms! We will see how we go haha. Feel free to draw alongside with me! ☺️

Happy World Hearing Day! 👂🏽🦻🏼

As an Audiologist, this is something I advocate for every single day to my clients, friends and family. It is my hope and joy to promote hearing health and prevention of hearing loss. If you or a loved one struggles with hearing loss, get your ears checked out asap! Give your ears some love and have regular check ups like you do your eyes and teeth.

Update: I’ve taken a few months off social media (this account) and from drawing for my mental health but I do hope that I can find time to draw again. This is the first drawing I have done for a while! Thanks for sticking around :)

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” - 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:16-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As I spend time reflecting over the past year, I realise how much more I could have rejoiced, prayed and given thanks to God- not just in good times but especially in difficult seasons- which was most of what this year was. I am a pessimist, so it’s not easy thinking in a positive light, but when I look outside of myself and my circumstances, and look upward to God, I am reminded of just how blessed I really am. There is an abundance of things to be thankful for. But here are just 5 things I’m thankful to God for this year.

1. I’m thankful for growth group and church- being part of a community of brothers and sisters who love Jesus. Where we can mutually encourage one another.

2. I’m thankful for Morgan and our first year of marriage. Thankful for his tremendous patience, love, kindness, gentleness and humility amongst other wonderful qualities.

3. I am thankful for family and God’s protection and provision over them. I am thankful for opportunities where they were able to hear the gospel.

4. I am thankful for work, despite me complaining about it and feeling like it is an emotional burden. I’m thankful I still have a job and Audiology is something I love doing despite the challenges.

5. Last but not least, I’m thankful for Jesus! Without him, I wouldn’t be here today. I’m thankful that I am deeply loved and valued especially in times when I don’t feel worthy.

In the coming year I hope and pray to grow in rejoicing, prayerfulness and thankfulness.

2 Corinthians 4:16 | Day 14

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
