Modést Orchestra A young Sydney-based orchestra conducted by Panagiotis Karamanos, presenting diverse programs from orchestral favourites to original compositions.

Proudly featuring aspiring young Australian professionals, composers and soloists. The 'Modest Project' is an initiative created by Panagiotis Karamanos, to give opportunities for students to play significant parts in a variety of orchestral contexts. We perform works ranging from staple works to new compositions. As an entirely student-run project, we strive to create an orchestra that prioritise

s the educational experience of being in a large ensemble. We aim to foster our players through peer mentoring, careful repertoire selection, and effective rehearsal management. By combining these elements, our ultimate goal is to stage memorable and professional performances.

We are so happy to see our conductor, Panagiotis Karamanos, be selected for the Sydney Symphony Fellowship 2026 Program! This is the first time SSO has expanded their program to young conductors and we are so thrilled to see him amongst 3 other aspiring conductors!
A big congratulations to him and the other successful candidates! 🎉🍾
