Oh hey Mars! It’s been just over 2 years since we last were those close to each other. In about 10 days we’ll be at our closest point until we begin to receded again. Make sure you get out for a look!

Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinhans-ATLAS) streaks through the morning sky beside the Sydney Opera House. Low level fog threatened the view, but luckily began to recede just as the comet became visible, still slightly obscuring some of the landscape.

Single tracked shot of the comet & single untracked shot for the foreground. Comet frame - 20" @ ISO 200. Foreground frame - 30" @ ISO 100.

For 48 minutes, Saturn wasn't available in the sky as it was blocked by the moon. This was a really fun event to video / image, and I hope this video helps you to find occultations the occur near you.

On the 27th June, from a vantage point 2 hours from Sydney I watched as the moon drifted in front of our view of Saturn, blocking it for about 40 minutes until it reappeared on the other side. These images show that timelapse. Saturn started by disappearing on the brightly hit half, then reappeared from the shadow side of the moon. Due to the low altitude this occurred in the sky the details of both the moon and Saturn are blurred significantly by the atmosphere.

Am I now a HAEter? After many test nights out with the iOptron HAE29, I must say I didn't expect the mount to perform like this. It's time for a detailed review & shake down of this harmonic mount from iOptron.

I pushed the HAE29 to it's limits to find out how good it was. This video dives deep into the iOptron HAE29 including; how to set up the HAE29, what guide se...

Sitting in Scorpio, this angry red eye stares down on us during the winter months. 37 hours of imaging time with half in LRGB and half in HA. I love how the Hydrogen and dust overlay and interweave throughout this region.

Wondering how good the QHY 268M and ZWO ASI2600MM are? I've put them through 6 side-by-side tests to see how well they both hold up.

Testing the ZWO ASI2600MM and QHY 268M in a side by side comparison. Pushing each camera to see how well they both perform under 6 tests & image comparisons....

Zoom in. Really! Zoom in on this photo and let’s go on a journey…

This image captures an extreme level of dynamic range and attempts to display it as smoothly as possible. At the centre is the moon’s surface as seen during peak solar eclipse with crater details visible. Moving out you catch glimpses of pink solar flares and prominences that dance in the suns upper surface. Further again and we now see the corona, white hot and twisted by the suns strong magnetic fields into loops and streams. Finally, as we reach the edge of the photo we see the solar winds, energetic particles that have escaped the sun and are heading out towards us, eventually creating the northern and southern lights as they hit Earth’s own magnetic field and atmosphere.

Taken on my Nikon Z6 II and a Sigma 150-600mm @ f/10. 12 images ranging from 1/250s - 4s.

Eclipsed. This image shows the full ~3 hour process of a total solar eclipse. Can you also spot the 3 planets visible in the sky? If not swipe right!

This image is the culmination of over a years planning, 5,000km+ of travel and ~1,000 images taken to create. Today, Exmouth was the centre of the astronomical world, being the only place on Earth you could catch a glimpse of totality.

Imaged on a Nikon Z6 with the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8.
