The inimitable Van Badham is one of five leading Australian playwrights joining forces for this year’s FITZ HAPPENS - our annual special event raising vital funds for the Old Fitz Theatre Playwright Fund.

But Van hasn’t just written for this year’s show… she dreamed up the whole thing!

Van created the storyboard that our five playwrights have collectively brought to life, before taking on the not-insignificant task of writing the play’s opening AND closing scenes. 👀

Hear from Van about her extraordinary career, her relationship with the Fitz, and the vital role she believes it plays in Australia’s theatrical ecosystem.

✨ CAST ANNOUNCEMENT ✨

At the centre of the chaos of FITZ HAPPENS is the utterly brilliant Shan-Ree Tan.

Returning for its second year, FITZ HAPPENS brings together five of Australia’s leading playwrights to co-write a brand new work from a storyboard by the legendary Van Badham - all to raise vital funds for the Old Fitz Theatre’s Playwright Fund.

And every night, Shan-Ree will be there to hold it all together.

Across the season, he’ll be joined by a different star guest artist, who’ll step into the action completely cold - script in hand, discovering the play for the very first time alongside you.

The result? A razor-sharp, wildly entertaining time-slip satire about real estate, greed, class and the histories buried beneath Sydney’s waterfront - with a delicious dose of live-theatre danger thrown in.

No two performances will ever be quite the same.

We could not be more delighted to have the dazzling Shan-Ree Tan leading us through the madness.
