can cause the skimmer box to break or crack. This will cuase loss of water and it will need to be dug up, cut off and replaced. Then concrete and tiles replaced. Detecting & repairing leaks
DETECTING LEAKS
There is the bucket test!! Put a bucket of water the same level as the pool, sit it on the steps, and see if the water drops lower than the bucket. If it does then you know its not evaporation. You can put a mark inside the skimmer box ,as not to mark the pool, or a piece of tape to mark the level as to detect how much water your losing. Ok, now that you have found out your losing water, this can cause movement around the pool and cause a crack or cracks! Skimmer boxes crack, pavers dip, trees die, neighbours trees die, or flooding of surrounding areas. Sounds like you need to call me or have a go yourself, but do it quickly. Hydrostatic valves are the plug at the bottom and come either as a screw in 40 or 50mm plug or one that’s the size of a dinner plate. The 40 or 50mm plugs should be changed every 6-8 years. These cause leaks all the time. Changing a 50mm plug cost about $150 and I would check out the rest of the pool for leaks. The pool needs to be in a swimming condition to do so and better in summer. I can do a die test. Try seeing if the die goes out of the suspecting spot. Then there’s a pipe test. Cost anywhere between $380 upwards, and I don’t do these.
