Hi Friends!

Team MESS are working on a new project for the upcoming Tiny Stadiums Festival at PACT in Erskinville. It’s called Trojans and it takes the form of a television series set in a bar with the same name. It is inspired by our reading about Mexican soap operas. We loved the idea that these shows are shot in such an incredibly fast rhythm, because of audience enthusiasm and tight budgets, that the actors don’t even get the chance to sight their script in advance of shooting, and instead they enact live and directly when shooting in accordance to instructions through radio receivers in their ears. They essentially become participants in a game of the creative’s design.

We have different writers writing each self-contained episode and are looking for performers to act in the work. So I write now on behalf of the Team to see if any of you guys out there might be interested in volunteering for a night? Maybe?...

It would involve an hour call before the show, arriving at about 5:45pm for a 6:00pm run through of the technology, set up and machinations of the work, with the show itself starting at 7:00pm and running for an hour. Unfortunately the project budget is incredibly tight and we can’t offer any financial remuneration, but can take you out for drinks and hospitality afterwards as thanks for joining in.

Show dates are November 14th, 15th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, and writers across the season include Annaliese Constable, Zoe Coombs Marr, Jackson Davis, Jessica Bellamy, Nick Sun.

If anyone might be free and keen to join in then please let us know, and advise a preferred date. We would only need you for one night, and we are after 2 - 4 performers per night.

Look forward to hopefully hearing back from some of you. All good whatever the case, of course…

We celebrated Twednesday in style with our hat-trick Laptop Elf night! Big thanks to all our performers - Steve Wilson-Alexander, Damon Nichols, Sam Rugg, Mon-Soeur Bish, Charlotte Kerr, Brett Johnson, Libby Bramble, Doug Niebling and Panguin (Emma McManus, Joseph Parro, Simon Binns, Madeline Vaughan) - and to all those who fought with vegetable and broom on the MCs' behalves.
