NSWIS congratulates its athletes on their outstanding performances at the ICF Canoe and Paracanoe Sprint World Championships in Poznan, Poland!
 
Congratulations to:
🥇 Natalia Drobot and Kailey Harlen, who made history as the first Australian women’s K2 500m World Champions since 1998.
🥈 Riley Fitzsimmons, who helped Australia’s men’s K4 500m crew claim silver.
🥉 Natalia Drobot, adding to her golden campaign with bronze in the women’s K1 500m.
 
Special mention also goes to:
• Olivia Clues, who won the women’s K1 1000m B Final
• Dylan Littlehales, who finished fourth in the men’s KL3 200m
• Ella Beere, who finished fifth in the women’s K1 200m
 
We also congratulate NSWIS Canoe Sprint Head Coach Jake Michael, who supported the Australian Men’s Team as Assistant Coach.

This week, the NSW Institute of Sport launched its Strategic Plan 2032+ Perform. Thrive. Inspire.

This strategy, presented by NSWIS CEO Kirsten Thomson OLY to the NSW Minister for Sport The Hon. Steve Kamper MP, sets a bold direction for the future of high performance sport in New South Wales. It reflects our commitment to delivering world leading performance outcomes while ensuring athletes are supported to thrive as people, not just performers.

At the heart of the strategy is a belief that sustained success comes from environments where athlete wellbeing, athlete voice and holistic development are valued alongside competitive excellence.

As we look ahead to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond, we are focused on building an organisation that empowers athletes, coaches and staff to achieve extraordinary results while inspiring and uniting NSW communities.

Thank you to the Minister and all our partners across Government and the high performance system who share our ambition for the future.

2,192 days to go! ⏳ Yes, we’re counting down the days!

Today marks six years until the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games! A home Games that will inspire a new generation of athletes and fans across Australia.

For NSWIS Para Unit wheelchair racer Cormac Ryan, this date has been circled for some time. Every training session, every milestone and every challenge is building towards the opportunity to deliver a memorable performance on the biggest stage in six years’ time.

With legendary athletes such as Louise Sauvage and Kurt Fearnley paving the way, and current stars including Madison de Rozario, Rheed McCracken and Eliza Ault-Connell continuing to inspire, the future of Australian Para sport is in incredible hands.

The countdown is on. 🇦🇺🏅

Para Futures Cup provides a taste of Brisbane: Nunnari

Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games silver medallist Paul Nunnari (HonDLitt) PSM PLY has welcomed today’s launch of The Para Futures Cup — six years to the day before the symbolic cauldron lighting for the Brisbane 2032 Games — as a golden opportunity for Para athletes to shine on home soil.

Nunnari, a Para Transition Lead Coach with the New South Wales Institute of Sport Para Unit, said the October tournament at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra will give 70 competitors aged 13 to 32 valuable experience in a team environment.
