During the creation of Little Big Top 2020 we had the total pleasure of joining Captain Lily aboard One Ocean Sailing.
Incredible hand balance artists Simon Crawley skilfully balanced on the beautiful catamaran as we sailed through stunning Sydney Harbour. It was a glorious day and a special adventure to share with friends. It truly was a wonderful day full of magic memories to look back on.

Our preview night was the first time we all got to come together in one room to see and celebrate each others' acts and watch the show we had created together over the past six months.

Thank you to the wonderful Caroline Watters, artist of AndThenSheKnew, for this incredible artist's illustration of Little Big Top 2020.

Caroline uses her artform to tell the story of connection between the artist on stage and the crew behind the scenes.

Whilst the audience will often never see the crew, it is those hidden heroes who make the magic come to life on stage.

In the circus world, the artists and crew work very closely together and often form an incredible bond and lifelong friendships. Sometimes tethered to the same rope an artist and rigger will take equal risks to create a moment of high flying magic on stage. These moments, of course, can only be possible thanks to the stage managers, stage crew, lighting & sound technicians, project managers, costume and makeup artists, special effects teams, venue staff, fabricators, coaches and trainers, producers and directors, cleaning staff, friends, family and the list goes on...

It truly takes a village to create spectacular and mesmerizing shows. From creation, to overcoming obstacles, to last minute adjustments. The crew and artist walk step by step together though the process of creating an act. From the pre show pep-talks to the post show hugs and high fives and all the memorable moments in between. Caroline's illustrations capture and celebrate these special moments. Her illustrations give us a glimpse behind the scenes and into that world of making the impossible possible together.
