Gallery LNL is pleased to present ‘Abstract Synergies’, a duo exhibition of ceramics by Kevin White and Sergei Shatrov that explores the concept of abstraction in ceramics through form, surface and material.

White’s refined vessels are grounded in Japanese and European ceramic traditions, while Shatrov’s woodfired works foreground material transformation, irregularity and chance.

Presented in dialogue, their works position abstraction as a material language that connects tradition with contemporary practice, precision with spontaneity, and structure with surface.

Join us for the opening this Friday 16 October, 6–8pm.

Koo Bohnchang (Bohnchang Koo) presents works from his Masks series for the first time in Australia at Sydney Contemporary. These photographs centre on the masks used in talchum, a traditional Korean performance blending satirical folk theatre and ritual practice.

Widely recognised as the most influential Korean photographer of his generation, Koo’s works are extensively held in the collections of major public institutions, including the British Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

Curated by José Da Silva, Gallery LNL is delighted to feature in the INSTALLATIONS program for this year’s edition of Sydney Contemporary (Sydney Contemporary).

‘Project ’ unfolds Choi Youngwook’s vision for an ideal encounter with his ‘Karma’ series amid the bustle of an art fair. Developed in collaboration with interior design practice Studio Chen Lu (Studio Chen Lu), the pavilion, constructed from wood and technical paper inserts, is conceived as a “house of restoration”, offering a moment of stillness around his ‘Karma’ paintings.

Three works surround the visitor seated on the oak bench within the pavilion: two show the jar’s full outline in relief, whilst a third draws us into a study of the surface detail alone. It is Choi’s pencil-drawn crazing and watercolour detailings which are the true occasion of the works, transcribing the surface of the moon jar with the artist’s sustained reflection on the karmic entanglements of a human life.

Project unfolds Choi Youngwook’s vision for an ideal encounter with his Karma series amid the bustle of an art fair. Gallery LNL is pleased to participate in the 10th edition of Sydney Contemporary (Sydney Contemporary) with ‘Lament’, a curated presentation of ceramics, paintings, works on paper, photography and sculpture by Australian and Korean artists.

To voice a lament is to refuse to surrender the memory of what was lost. It is to risk the possibility that for the world to shimmer, something must be left unhealed. For Lament, artists found within the depths of blackness, the movement of creative expression, and the way for sincere overcoming.

For the installation sector, the gallery will present ‘Project ’ — a pavilion that arranges an intimate, private encounter with Choi Youngwook’s paintings from his ‘Karma’ series. Developed in collaboration with interior design practice Studio Chen Lu (Studio Chen Lu), the pavilion, constructed from wood and technical paper inserts, has been conceived as a “house of restoration”, offering a moment of stillness amidst the bustle of an art fair.
