This week, services across Noffs proudly hosted and attended NAIDOC Week events, celebrating 50 years of Deadly Dreaming and the ongoing strength, culture and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 🖤💛❤️
We were very excited to celebrate alongside First Nations staff at the 4th annual youth NAIDOC event, the Deadly Dreaming Festival at Penrith City Park on Dharug Country. This year showcased 28 First Nations young performers (did we say 28!?), thanks to a huge effort from Deadly Dreaming staff, who engaged and mentored so many young people and created space for them to be proud of their culture.
There were also 10+ First Nations visual artists exhibiting on the day, mentored by Katoomba TSU – still here, still deadly.
A heartfelt thank you to headliner @nookymusic, who generously performed with very little notice, and to First Nations staff whose leadership and hard work made the event possible.
Deep thanks to Aunty Melissa Stubbings and Uncle Shane Laws for opening the day with a beautiful Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony.
