Last but certainly not least of introductions: meet Albert. Played by David Thomas.

“”All the world a stage and all the men and women merely players” So says Shakespeare and I agree. I believe that everyone has their story to tell and as an actor it’s a privilege, honour and joy to be part of telling those stories and bringing them and the characters to the stage.

For me acting is a life force. Its about connection to the stories and characters, the other actors and the connection to the purpose and the journey. If theatre can help change society for the better or even just one persons thinking even for just a moment, then that’s an incredible process to be part of. And without the audience the theatre would be a lonely place.

I’m very proud to be part of this production and be part of presenting this story which is rich in character and complicated family history. The mistakes these people make in life and the hardships that they are dealt and ultimately how they overcome them. I hope you enjoy this as much as we have enjoyed bringing it to life.”

Freerange Theatre co presents THREE THE HARD WAY By Linda Eisenstein.
Directed by Romney Hamilton

Set in a motel in Reno, Three the Hard Way is a comedy drama that brings together three sisters, Kathleen, Irene and Mary after the sudden death of their colourful gambler father, Albert. Separated by geography and a challenging family history, the sisters go through what little is left of their father's life and try to make sense of their past and their relationships with the meddling ghost of Albert looking on.

Meet Irene. Played by Alice Russo.

“I love acting because we get to create something ephemeral - something that can't ever be replicated - not with a video, not on social media, just in the audience's memory. It's hugely challenging to let go of my body consciousness, worrying if I look bad, trying to let go of all my neuroses and the way I hold myself.”

Alice is a wonderful actor, based in Sydney who plays a complicated middle-daughter whose impulses often lead her to questionable places.

“Irene is cynical and charming, but underneath she is deeply vulnerable. The events of the play lead her to come to terms with her illness and cry out for help. This is rich and brutally authentic. It's a privilege to be playing her.”

Sam is a Sydney-based actor with a passion for collecting and telling interesting and compelling stories. “I’ve always been interested in understanding what makes a person tick, how they express themselves, the things they keep secret and the things that are shown about them despite themselves. I love theatre and acting for this reason and am relieved that I managed to shut out my inner critic enough to take a risk and return to the stage after many years away. Three The Hard Way is such a beautiful story about the complex dynamics of a family in grief is a true gift to me explore these things further. ”

We are so happy to have Sam be part of this cast, playing a woman desperately trying to keep her family together after a major loss. It will be so exciting to see her play this role.
