Here's a throwback to a painting I did in highschool.

Is the baby hungry, sad, angry, seeking attention? Did he leave a stinky surprise?

When I paint portraits I usually aim to capture more than one emotion. I enjoy how one simple expression can lead to a multitude of perspectives and interpretations.

Sometimes when I begin a painting, or even throughout, I get a bit stuck. The limitless possibilities within the scope of art can cause me to overthink. Consequently, I occasionally find myself in a state of 'analysis paralysis'.

I'm still figuring out the best method to complete my paintings. Although sometimes I wonder if there even is a 'best' method. Maybe the most optimal and effective painting process is to not think, just do.

Palette Knife Painting and Perfectionism #1

Since I was a child, I have realised (and told myself) that I was a perfectionist. And, for the majority of my life, I have been completely unaware of the harm this way of thinking and acting has affected me.

Palette knife painting is much more than just attempting to produce a visually aesthetic image. Throughout the entire process I am in constant conflict with my conditioned perfectionist thoughts.
