I have been very quiet on Instagram recently but I have been working away in the studio preparing for my next adventure.

I have decided in the lead up to Christmas - OMG really - to open up MakingTime as a gallery/shop/studio - 3 days a week - Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 11.00 - 4.00.

As well as my own work, I will be showing the work of other skilled ceramic artists.
I will be working away in the studio at the back of the gallery if you feel like just dropping by for a chat about ceramics or to see how I work.

First day open will be Saturday 1st November 10.00 - 4.00 and who knows I might even have done some baking.

Hope to see you soon.

Some more new form, surface and glaze experiments. The tall one at the back has been glazed in a metallic bronze glaze that I bought in the UK last year. The crackled surface on the white piece is from terra sigillata made from local Clovelly clay and Indian ink rubbed into the cracks after firing. Slightly less travel required to achieve this result!

I've been working with some new forms and different surface treatment/ techniques recently which I thought I'd share with you. All but three of these forms have been 'thrown' with the same clay, (Keanes S/w9) for all you clay people and all have been glazed with the same glaze and fired in a reduction kiln. Some have been coated with a white slip (liquid clay) when still damp before bisque firing, some have been carved into before a slip applied and some have no slip just clay. Anyways, as you can see, many different iterations using one beautiful glaze. I am looking into creating a webshop but for now, if you like anything here and would be interested in acquiring, please DM me to discuss.

'Compositions' of new and old work that has been lying around the studio. Amazing way to waste some time that I don't really have but has been fun to see how often forms, colour and texture are on repeat ... oh and a lot of beach debris that I collect on my walks.

Connections are beginning to happen … Anyone have any thoughts or experience on how best to fuse two glazed pieces together? Epoxy or re-glaze touching points?
