i have a soft spot for this, it feels unreasonably peaceful for weeks and weeks in progress, countless iterations and thick layer after layer. i’ve loved it, hated it, painted over it and over it and over it… sometimes that’s just the way through. and now we rest 🍃

there’s no way to resolve them until you paint over a part that worked, or risk the section you liked

doing the hard to get to the good thing is often the whole point

the perfect painting conditions don’t exist.

it was getting dark, between loads of washing, one eye on the kids playing in the street. the studio light was awful and i had absolutely no idea where these paintings were headed.

i wasn’t inspired.
but i started anyway.

i don’t think i’m alone in believing that most of the time, starting trumps inspiration.

and so twenty imperfect minutes squeezed between everything else is often all it takes to find your way in (all with time for a quick progress photo)🎨
