What a magical and memorable night at Story Room Global on Tuesday!

I was so thrilled to share the stage with an incredible group of storytellers. I loved hearing their stories, but even more, I’ve loved getting to know them.

I shared my story of how I reframed my ‘what if’ catastrophising after my breast cancer diagnosis. And how I now speak from my scars and own the experiences that sit beneath them.

Oh, and my l@bi@ also got an honourable mention.

With a biblical downpour hammering on the roof, I found myself yelling “L@BI@!” at the top of my voice to a room full of strangers.

You’re never quite sure how that’ll go down. But there were cheers, whoops and quite a few hands in the air! 😂

Let’s have more conversations about women’s bodies and how we feel when things happen to them that nobody told us about.

Thank you to Karen for creating such a beautiful space where we could share our stories with a wonderful audience 💙

And, yeah, I get the irony of masking the word l@bi@ in a post about talking more openly about women’s bodies. But if I don’t, Instagram might limit its reach and you might never see it. So here we are. 🙄

Owning Your Story.
A night when stories had the audience laughing, crying, cheering and connecting.
Stories are even more important today, as our devices, AI and the chaos of the world increasingly compete for our attention. We can be connected to everyone and everything, yet still crave genuine human connection.
And that's what happens at Story Room Global
We come together, put our phones aside and listen to six people brave enough to stand on a stage and share a true story from their lives. Stories that surprise us, move us, make us laugh and sometimes give us goosebumps.
Because when we hear someone else's story, we often recognise a little of ourselves in it. We realise we are not alone in our experiences, our struggles, our triumphs or our hopes.
That's the power of storytelling. It reminds us of our shared humanity. It creates connection, builds understanding and opens our eyes to lives and experiences beyond our own.

Single-use plastic is a huge issue in Australia. We have been ranked second in the world for the amount of single-use plastic waste we generate per person—behind only Singapore.
Kal Glanznig, who has just turned 26, has spent the past few years helping us understand how plastic affects us all—from pollution in our environment to the microplastics being found in our bodies and the concerns about their effects on our health.
And what a remarkable young man he is! A TEDx speaker, the youngest-ever independent councillor elected to Sutherland Shire Council, a keen surfer and a sportsman who has represented Australia in water polo. Honestly, I could go on… check him out for yourself!
