Thank you for having us Mudgin-Gal 🖤
DANCE: Kebi Kub (pr. KEH-BEE-KOOB) — a Sydney-based Eastern Torres Strait Islander dance group whose name means “small group” in the Meriam Mir language are bringing their beautiful dances and rhythms to Mudgin-Gal womens Festival.
🗓MUDGIN-GAL WOMENS FESTIVAL ~ Saturday 6 December 10-4, Redfern Park. Free event. Everyone is welcome.
Though small in number and far from their island homes in the Torres Strait, KEBI KUB remain deeply connected to culture through dance, language, and storytelling.
Each performance is more than dance — it is a celebration of identity, ancestry, and community. By teaching their young ones the songs, dances, and values passed down through generations, they ensure their traditions continue with strength, integrity, and heart.
Even in a city far from the sea and sand of their home, Kebi Kub creates space to speak language, honour ancestors, and keep culture alive. Their work instils love, respect, and appreciation for Torres Strait Islander identity — because for Kebi Kub, culture is not just something they do, it is who they are.
