kwento was created in December 2020 by Kenneth Moraleda, Jordan Shea, and Jana Vass – all seeking to create new Australian works, that challenge the norms of Australian society. Our core aim is to produce and present engaging and diverse work whilst creating opportunities for artists across experience levels and disciplines. We believe in: collaboration, advocacy, community engagement, diversity, inclusion, care of artist and dedication to mentorship.

WE ARE BACK!

In August 2024, we will premiere TITA written by in an exciting collab with - a first for kwento and Happy!

Each night, your favourite Filipino Aunty will ferry her family, all of you, to establish yourselves in an ever changing and complex Australia. We promise that each performance over our season will be entirely different from the night before.

Part solo monologue, part stand up, part improvisation, part choose your own adventure, and entirely authentic - Tita will keep you safe, no matter who you are.

This show is the ultimate celebration of the people in our lives who aren't parents, who aren't siblings - but who we can call on whenever life rides high or low. Our leaders, our anchors, our aunts, our uncles.

We've had a few hours developing our new work at the kwento's Ashfield office - complete with snacks and tsismis of course.

We had an absolute ball developing TITA at with support by and produced by with as our rehearsal room intern!

This new one woman show performed by and written by with direction by follows Tita, a cab driving Filipina Aunty who has been bringing out her family to Australia for decades. When her last niece and nephew finally arrive, she's faced with challenges she is keen to embrace.

The audience who attended the showing were captivated by Happy's warmth, and kwento's latest show is bubbling away...

Filos and improv lovers! Improv group are heading out west to The Joan for Open Fridays! Get ready for a night of full-blown Filipino family drama, unlimited unsolicited advice, Catholic guilt, and the lingering fear of someone else singing your karaoke song.  Come early for Karaoke fun from 5pm. Who knows, your song might inspire some of Fillow Talk's hilarious sketch scenes.

Exquisite new work 'Forgetting Tim Minchin' starring and directed by - we caught this on opening and was floored by the all round storytelling and heart that dominated the stage- get on it! Closes end of the month. A bonus? Our movement director is on this one too
