“It’s kind of like a selfie; I’m putting myself into the work a little. And I do like using bright colours, probably because I have only 35% vision in my right eye. I love bright art because I can see it from a distance. And as I get older, I want my paintings to be more joyful and more about celebrating life.” Sense says.

Sense 説：「这有点像拍自拍；我把一部分的自己融入到了作品之中。我确实喜欢使用鲜艳的颜色，这大概是因为我右眼的视力只有35%。我热爱色彩明艳的艺术，因为我能从很远的地方就看到它。而且随着年龄的增长，我希望我的画作能变得更加欢快，更加去歌颂和庆祝生命。」

"Sitting near the wet market at Pulau Tikus in the morning and talking to everyone passing by … There’s something so romantic about it for me. I like the heat, the fans making a bit of noise, strong coffee, and just listening to everything around me. All that goes into my painting," as Sense feels right at home in Penang, Malaysia.

It's a bold, exuberant shout into the unknown—a tribute to life's imperfections, stumbles, and delightful disorder. It's finding beauty not in flawlessness, but in the disordered, unrefined essence of existence.

Nigel Sense dedicates his time away from the studio to seeking inspiration for his art. He refers to this as "Going Fishing," intentionally getting lost to gather everyday sights and bits of conversation. Utilizing these encounters, Sense develops digital sketches that serve as the foundation for his canvas creations. His painting process is intuitive, rapid, and appreciative of imperfections.

The title of the exhibition - Irama Warna, is derived from Malay, referring to the fact that every time the viewers look at Sense's work, it’s like hearing some happy melodies dancing, which also serves as a metaphor for his art by celebrating the layered, unexpected joys of travel, art and love.
