The Choir of St Paul’s College is the flagship of the musical life at the College, and consists of 32 auditioned singers at the University.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our two sold-out performances of Mozart’s Requiem this weekend! The energy in the room was truly electric, and it was a joy for the Choir to collaborate with such an outstanding group of instrumentalists and soloists.

We’re also looking forward to our final Choral Evensong of the semester this Tuesday at 5:15pm. After a short holiday break, the Choir will return for Semester 2 with some exciting plans ahead — stay tuned!

Hello! My name is Caitlin, and I’m originally from the Hunter Valley. I’m currently in my third year studying a Bachelor of Music (Performance – Classical Voice) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

This is my second year singing with St Paul’s Chapel Choir, and I absolutely love the opportunities it provides to collaborate with other musicians, expand my repertoire, and perform incredible choral works together.

I’m especially excited to perform Mozart’s Requiem — it’s such a captivating and emotionally powerful work, both to perform and to experience as an audience member. It’s a truly unforgettable piece of music, and definitely not a performance you’ll want to miss!

Hey! I’m Kristian Masi, and I’m studying Mechanical Engineering. This is my first year in choir, and I’ve really enjoyed it so far — especially getting to learn from such talented musicians and improve my sight-reading along the way. It’s been a great experience being part of a group like this and continuing to grow as a singer. I’m really looking forward to the Requiem concert; it’s such a powerful work, and I think it’s going to be an amazing performance!

Introducing our choristers! For our next instalment, we’re delighted to welcome one of our newest sopranos: Maddy Wilson ( ).

I’m Maddy, and I’m currently in my first year at St Paul’s College studying a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine. Having been a choir member for 8 years, I decided to audition for the Chapel Choir because of my passion for music. I was drawn to choir because it offers a different language and way to communicate—there’s something really special about expressing meaning through music rather than just words. It’s also been a really meaningful way to connect with St Paul’s and our Anglican roots.

One of the things I love most about choir is the shared sense of connection, both musically and as a community. Being part of something that continues such a long tradition makes it feel really significant. I’m especially excited for the Requiem because it’s such a powerful, well-known, and moving work, which has been amazing to contribute to. Performing this piece is going to be an unforgettable experience to share with everyone.

I’m Darcy, a second-year Arts/Law student at Sydney Uni and a member of the choir. I love the breadth of repertoire we perform at St Paul’s, from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Eric Whitacre. I’m especially excited for this upcoming performance and the opportunity to sing alongside our guest soloists. Requiem is an extraordinary work—powerful, moving, and not to be missed!

Introducing our choristers! Starting with one of our incredible sopranos: Emily Gillard ( )

Hello! I’m Emily, and I’m from Melbourne. I’m in my first year at St Paul’s, studying a Bachelor of Commerce and Arts. I’ve been singing in choirs since I was seven, and I joined Paul’s to continue my singing journey beyond high school while further developing my sight-singing and listening skills.

I’ve absolutely loved the strong sense of community within the choir and how lovely everyone is. I’m especially excited for the Requiem, as it’s such a beautiful and challenging work to share with an audience. I think audiences will really enjoy seeing all our hard work come together, alongside the incredible range of talent across our wonderful group!

The programme also features Owain Park’s Phos hilaron and Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs. One of history’s greatest works performed by one of Australia’s most exciting choirs.
