黒豆で服を作る生地を作っています。

使わないまま古くなってしまった黒豆だけを使うつもりが、古い小豆まで発掘したので急きょブレンド

黒豆と小豆で生地から手作りの服ってどうですか？むちゃくちゃ楽しいですよ🎵

次はいよいよ縫っていきます。さてどうなるか？次回に続きます。

I'm making fabric for sewing skirt with black beans.

I was planning to only use old black beans that had been left unused, but I also discovered old adzuki beans in my pantry so I had to quickly blend them too.

It was a great fun making fabric for handmade clothes from scratch, using black beans and adzuki beans.

Next, we'll finally start sewing. See how I go! To be continued.

どのプリントが好きですか？

Eco-print dyeing experiment using coffee beans and black beans.
I tried printing it on linen fabric.
The iron sample also contains alum, so it's not just iron mordant but the subtle differences are interesting✨

Can you tell where this scarf's colour came from? 🌿

This soft earthy mauve brown colour actually came from eucalyptus bark.

I used fern, bamboo, cotinus, peppercone leaves, then slowly steamed it to let nature transfer its pigments and tannins onto the fabric.

In fact my first attemp of printing failed completely. It just turned out as yellowish scarf.
It was washed, re-mordanted, dipped in iron then printed with eucalyptus bark cover. - just the quiet magic of eucalyptus.

Nature is the real artist. 🌱

このスカーフの色、どの植物の色かわかりますか？ 🌿

この優しいピンクブラウンは、ユーカリの木の幹を浸した水の色なんです（落ちてたもの）

葉っぱはシダ、竹、コティナス、ペッパーコーンを使い、ゆっくりと蒸して、自然の色素やタンニンがこの綺麗なシルクのスカーフ生地にうつしました。

実は最初のエコプリントは完全に失敗してただの黄色っぽいスカーフになってしまったんだけど、諦めずに洗って、また媒染しなおして、鉄の液に浸して、ユーカリの皮の真っ赤なカバーをつけてプリントしたらこの結果に。まさにユーカリの魔法だなあと。

自然が作ってくれた芸術品に感謝です 🌱

庭のプルメリアの花がとても可愛いので、最近拾ったユーカリの枝と葉っぱを煮た染液に、自家製の鉄媒染液を多めに入れて、グレーに染めた布をかぶせて、ユーカリxプルメリアってどんな感じだろう？とエコプリントしてみたら葉っぱは真っ白、お花は黄色の塊に。。。ユーカリのグレーは一体どこへ？
なぜ？どうして？想像してたのとぜんぜん違う😲でも面白い🎵
せっかく刺し子の糸も染めたので、グレーは合わないかもだけど、チクチク刺し子というか刺繍してみようか？

Frangipani flowers in my garden are so cute that I ecoprinted them with eucalyptus branch and leaf dyed cloth which I put a generous amount of homemade iron mordant.
I wondered what it would look like to have eucalyptus x frangipani flowers?
In result, all leaves turned out white and the flowers were yellow blobs... and where did the eucalyptus gray go?
Why? It's completely different from what I imagined😲
How interesting🎵
Anyway there is some gray dyed sashiko thred, I may emroidering or sashiko on it. What do you think?

This was printed on cotton leftover fabric which was mordanted totally different way to my usual way.
I think it turned out very cute because flowers and leaves I used were cute, not due to my skill.
I imagined blue from hibiscus flowers but who could imagine that lichen I collected from a dead branch of tree printed orange?!
What a surprise!!!

これ、今までとぜんぜん違うやり方でプリントしてみたんだけど、出来上がりがこーんなに可愛いのは、間違いなくこのお花や葉っぱたちのおかげ。媒染のおかげではないと思う!
ハイビスカスはブルーになるのは想像できてたけど、はじめて置いてみたLichen(落ちてた幹に生えてた藻?)がオレンジ色にプリントされたのにはびっくり!

I have not used my sewing machine for a long long time!

長いことさわってなかったミシンを久しぶりに使ってみました。
型紙を使う裁縫は苦手な私だけど、娘のエプロンをあててジョキジョキまわりを切って、端ミシンをかけてテープつけるだけなのでできました🎵
簡単だけど大満足！

I have not touched sewing machine for a long time.
It was so easy to make it when I used my daughters apron as a pattern.
Simple project made me so happy!

なが～いことほったらかしだったミシンを久しぶりに使ってみました。型紙から作る裁縫は苦手な私でも、娘のエプロンの形どおりにジョキジョキ切って端ミシンして、テープつけるだけ。
シンプルなプロジェクトだけど大満足！

I went to a cute rural town called Leura with my daughter today, wearing ecoprinted linen pants that I sew myself.

We went to the candy shop, tea museum, cute cafes and shops, it was a fun day.

Well, my sewing pants for the first time were disastrous in the beginning because I cut my fabric all wrong....😭

I needed 2 pieces each of front pants and back pants right side up. Instead, I cut my fabric in the loop as per my book instructed...

I wanted to cry and almost gave up. But I did not want to throw the fabric away.

So I stitched up cut pieces as if nothing happened and re-cut it right.

I learnt my lesson in a very painful way.

Today, I wore it for the first time, and it was so comfortable and satisfying 😌

Hope you don’t make a mistake like I did🙏

今日は運動会をサボった娘と一緒にレウラという郊外の可愛い町へ、エコプリントしたズボンを履いて行ってきました。

キャンディショップに行ったりティーカップの博物館に行ったり可愛いカフェやお店に行ったり楽しい日でした。

はじめてのズボン作りのはじまりは最悪でした。なぜなら布を間違って切ってしまったからです😭

前パンツと後ろパンツ、2枚ずつ表向きの生地がいるのに、本に書いてあったとおり、布を輪にして切ってしまったんです😭💦💦

もう泣きたい気持ちだったし諦めようとも思ったのですが、生地を無駄にしたくなかったので、何事もなかったように切ったところを縫い合わせて、また正しい方向で裁断しました。

痛い経験をしましたが、履き心地はとても良かったし、満足しました。

みなさんが私のようなアホな間違いをしませんように🙏

I made a sashiko cutlery holder with indigo dyed threads and cloth.

It is designed to fit different kinds of cutleries.
Like Japanese kimono, you wrap the cloth around your body and tie the obi fabric belt cloth around the waist at the end, this wrap the cloth around the cutleries and tie the strings at the end.

In this sense, both cutlery wrapping and the Kimono require the expression of one's aesthetic sense by wrapping and tieing, using flat, two-dimensional materials to contain three-dimensional shapes.

I love Japanese design😍

自宅で藍染めした糸と布を使って、刺し子をした箸袋というものを作ってみました。

これっていろんな形のカトラリーに合うようにデザインされてるんですね。
着物を着るときは、布を体に巻き付けて最後に腰のあたりを帯で結んで仕上げますが、この箸袋も布をカトラリーに巻き付けて最後に紐で留めるというデザインになっています。

ということは、カトラリーも着物も、包む人の美のセンスが包んで留める、という平面から立体へと作り上げる動作の中で表現される、ということなのではないか？などと考えてしまいました。

日本のデザインって素晴らしい😍
