Get ready to unleash your inner floral Picasso at our Floral Art workshop this Saturday, 28th February from 1pm. 💐

We're rolling out the petal-strewn carpet in the brand new, Swan Hill Art Gallery workspace, that is so fancy, you’ll be inspired to get creative!

The fabulous Jeannie will dazzle us with a couple of colour-ific demos. She'll dive into the magic of color, creating a monochromatic marvel (think one color in all its glory) and a sleek achromatic gem (hello, black, white, and grey).

Then it will be over to you to get creative, try out the techniques and build your design.
Assistance will be on hand if you need a sidekick to tackle the task as you create your own grand Imposè.

Everyone's invited, and no prior experience is necessary. If you want, bring a friend to share in the floral fun.

Spots are $20 each, which covers all the materials you will need for your masterpiece.🌸

Now, if you're up for a little pre-workshop prep, we’ve got a quirky challenge for you: bring along a design starring an "intriguing horticultural gem from nature." Think sticks, seed pods, branches, or anything else that made you think, "This is gonna come in handy someday!" Or am I the only one hoarding nature’s knickknacks? 🤔

Here’s what to keep in mind:

Craft your masterpiece before the big day and bring it with you.
Let your imagination run wild - any design is welcome!
Make sure your chosen item hogs the spotlight and dazzles the eye.
And remember, folks, stick to the horticultural theme. 😊

Floral Art will conclude for the 2024 with an ‘Impose Design’ using native flowers to be held on Saturday 30th November commencing at 1pm.

With an Impose design, all materials and your container
is supplied so you don’t have to bring anything except your secutors if you have some or we can supply them if needed.

This workshop will be held at 15 Currie Street, Swan Hill. The price for the day will be $50 each, which will cover your container and flowers.

Please let Tricia 0400 162 017, know by the 14th November if you are coming along, as we need to order the supplies.

Come and join in for a fun day with beautiful flowers.

Our April Workshop is coming up this Saturday. Whose coming?

If you haven't already, please let Tricia 0400 162 017 or Jeannie 0428 551 774 know (or leave a comment), by 3pm Wednesday if you are planning on attending, so we can start preparing all the beautiful blooms and foliage you will be working with.

Saturday's on farm workshop space can be found at 1574 Speewa Road Koraleigh.

Remember to bring your secateurs and tools and a container with oasis at least 5cms above. Alternatively, you can use chicken wire inside your container.

The cost for this workshop is $30, please bring it with you.

Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show ~ 29 March to 2 April

Inspired by the 2023 theme “Kaleidoscope”, Jeannie and Tricia headed down to Melbournee with their creation for this year's display, a isosahedron, a 3D shape made from 20 equilateral triangles. These triangles were pieced together on site, decorated in in fresh, bright gerbera & carnations and hung, with smaller element cascading down.

The challenges with designing for this type of event were numerous, from creating a structure light enough to carry but strong enough to support itself. It all came together in the end, with a beautiful display to represent the Swan Hill Floral Art Group. Well done Jeannie & Tricia.

Jeanie was even luck enough to get a photo with fellow flower enthusiast Costa Georgiadis from Gardening Australia.

At our February workshop foliage will be the star.
We will work with different types of foliage, learning how to manipulate them, making them the focal point of your arrangement. You can make an arrangement and bring it along or just create something on the day.
Please bring a suitable container that will compliment your design.
If you have any interesting leaves, pieces of fern, pieces of succulent or soft palm leaves, bring them along too.
Jeannie and Tricia will bring a good supply of varies foliage as well so don't worry if you don’t have anything in your garden to work with, there will be plenty there on the day to inspire you.

Workshop 3rd December
It's nearly Christmas and we have arranged another special day creating. You will be making Christmas designs to take home, using native flowers and foliage supplied. The cost of the day will be $25.

We have changed the date and it is now going to be on 3rd of December, starting at 1pm and the venue will be the art gallery. To plan the day and get enough flowers organised can you please let Jeannie know if you are coming by the 30th of November on 0428 551 774. New participants most welcome.

You can make a Christmas Wreath, table arrangement, a Christmas tree or whatever takes your fancy. Please bring your own container, base wreath or what you want to base your arrangement around. Jeannie has about 12 x 25cm oasis wreath bases which you can purchase or you can construct a wreath base using grapevine, banksia rose, dodda vine, kiwi vine or sticks and wire. You are not limited to one item so bring a couple of things and if you are in a really constructive mood, you might get them all done. Looking forward to seeing you all.
