We're very excited to be co-presenting the documentary, BOORMAN AND THE DEVIL, from director David Kittredge, at this year's 20th edition of the legendary Sydney Underground Film Festival.

In the mid-70s, John Boorman - the successful English director behind neo-noir POINT BLANK (1967) and horror-thriller DELIVERANCE (1972) - was offered the script for the sequel to THE EXORCIST, titled THE HERETIC.

He took it and ran with it.

But, EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC, released in 1977 and Warner Brothers most expensive movie at the time, was a disaster, a massive box office failure that nearly ended Boorman's career.

In this fascinating doco, cast and filmmakers, including Linda Blair, Louise Fletcher, Joe Dante, Karyn Kusama, Mike Flanagan, and Boorman himself, reflect and discuss the movie's ambition and wild artistic swings.

"Dazzling" -- Indie Wire
"A truly great film" -- Edgar Wright
"One of the best movies about the making of a movie" -- Deadline

BOORMAN AND THE DEVIL has its Australian Premiere on Friday, September 11, 7.45pm, screening at The Factory Theatre, Marrickville, as part of SUFF. Don't miss it!

With a few days still before our Regular Deadline* it's time to reveal our key art for 2026.

Channeling German Expressionism with the tendrils of cosmic horror, huge thanks to Mikey Crane and Tim Richter for the artwork and graphic design.

The third volume of Australia's darkest film festival returns to haunt Sydney!

Black out your calendar for Saturday, October 10th.

Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements in the weeks to come. Full program will be launched in September.

I'll just leave this here.

'Obsession' proves horror fans are still way ahead of Hollywood, which continues to ignore the genre until the box office forces it to pay attention.
