The Gaelic Club

The Gaelic Club Irish culture in the heart of Sydney. Find us through the green doors and up the stairs at 1/64 Devonshire Street, Surry Hills.

The Gaelic Club is a place for live entertainment, teaching of traditional music, dance and the Irish language. It has a licensed bar, dance floor, kitchen and meeting room, which members and guests can use and book for functions.

The Irish National Association Sydney are holding an EOFY Appeal for their Cultural Fund.
Please consider donating in support of Irish music, language, dance and art’s events!
Past INA cultural fund recipients have been the Sydney Fleadh, kids music lessons, travel for emerging musicians, the Irish Film Festival, CΓ©ilΓ­s and Festivals and maintenance of the Irish Monument at Waverley cemetery.
The INA is also a great supporter of The Gaelic Club activities.

The Gaelic Club is excited to welcome Chris and Reece from The Butter Trackers to lead this weeks Friday Trad night!

Chris (banjo, mandolin, singer, fiddle) has performed at sessions, on stages and for ceilis at many folk festivals. For several years Chris has run traditional Irish music sessions in the southern highlands with The Butter Trackers. Reece (DADGAD guitar, Bodhran, Piano, Singer) is a reformed classical musical who made the jump to trad folk 6 years ago. Both Chris and Reece play together regularly in sessions around the Southern Highlands and Illawarra.

At fortyfivedownstairs theatre (VIC), Bloomsday in Melbourne present their brand-new play BETWEEN THE LINES: The James Joyce/Groucho Marx letters from 17-21 June. πŸ₯Έ

Bloomsday is early this year at The Gaelic Club (NSW), with a fantastic night hosted by Prankqueans and MCs Don Conlon and Sean McLoughlin on Sunday, 14 June from 6pm! Honour James Joyce through readings, songs, music... and pizza! πŸ•

At Mons. O'Shea (WA), in collaboration with the AIHA, you can enjoy live music and readings with a 4-course dinner... and you are encouraged to dress up! Those dressed in an Edwardian costume can get a free Irish coffee upon arrival. πŸ₯ƒ

At Queen Street Mall (QLD), the Queensland Irish Association are holding readings and music from 12pm and BYO drinks at Gilhooleys after. From 1-19 June, QIA are also holding a Bloomsday exhibition at Brisbane Square Library. 🎻

Ahead of their concert on June 20th, The Sydney Scottish fiddlers are hosting a special trad session this Friday at the Gaelic Club!
Join us for a lively evening of tunes featuring James Gastineau-Hills (Kejafi) a fiddler known for bringing a fresh contemporary edge to traditional Scottish Irish and Australian music, alongside Aisleen Evans, originally from the East Coast of Canada and a familiar face on the Sydney trad scene. Rounding out the session is the fantastic talent of Gabi, Mina and Javi.
Expect a mix of tunes beyond just Scottish. There'll be plenty to keep things varied and lively
All are welcome whether you play, listen, or just want to soak up the atmosphere. Come along for great music, good company and plenty of trad spirit.
